Removing the rear axle backing plates on a 1994 truck. (1 Viewer)

My backing plates are rusted and I want to replace them. I seem to remember the backing plates are pressed on with this axle. Does anyone have experience with removal and replacement?

Axle has to be pressed apart.

There is also a great video over at Timmy the Toolman. I highly recommend the tool he promotes in this video. It made the job super easy. BTW, if you haven't been over to Timmy's site you really should spend a day or two looking at this videos. @Timmy65

If you are not familiar with Timmy the Toolman's YouTube Channel, get over there. I just used the tool he promoted in this video: Good gawd the job could not have been easier. If I had one issue it was getting the new bearing pressed in. Mine did not go in as easy as he shows in the video...
