Make sure you can store your non-installed tires a good distance from where the vehicle parks/drives. If you are limited to one garage, for instance, the multiple instances of the same ID will confuse the TPMS module in the truck.

For this reason and the huge difference in quality I usually advocate installing PI/denso sensors and getting a carista, then paying the $9 for a temporary pro activation week any time you need to swap the tires. Negligible cost per year and if one of your originals fails you aren’t having to replace it AND reprogram the clone.
Agreed. If you are buying a clone programmer, I can see how getting clones would make sense. My experience with many "aftermarket" sensors has not been good, they just don't last as long in my experience.

Since OP has techstream, getting the $70 cable and doing it yourself makes a lot of sense. And then you'll have a solid Techstream cable for other functions as well...

Interesting. I intend to keep the vehicle for the next decade (I did with my last LX470). I plan to change my tires twice a year (late fall and early spring).

1.) If I just use techstream and buy a VXDIAG cable (~$117 CAD delivered), I should be able to swap whenever I need to without variable cost. I'll probably need to buy new sensors too.

2.) If I buy a Carista, it costs $39.99 CAD for the ODB2 adapter, and then $12.99 CAD per month, or (20x$12.99+$39.99) $300 over a decade. I'll probably need to buy new sensors too.

3.) Clones will cost $270 CAD installed...Or I can buy a programmer for ~$100CAD (do these cheap ones really work?) and get some programmable sensors for ~$125CAD for a set...Maybe this isn't a great option, since I usually keep my swapped-out tires in the garage, and if the aftermarket ones don't last long I might be right back to the drawing board.

Perhaps I'll just buy the VXDIAG cable use techstream every time, if that does the trick. Has anyone used that cable successfully for TPMS code programing?
