We went through the lava fields trying to find safety way, where there is not too hot.
We watch intricate forms and color of stones and lava.

Two hours of climbing up and we see the active crator throug the mist and clouds.
The sulfur steam that crater makes, connects with mist and became a sulfuric asid that is not really good for you lungs. So we have gas mask.
Crater erupted lots of small rad-hot stones, thats why we were all in unflamable clothes and helmets. Some of that scorching elements hited us, but there was not damage and problems with them.
Magms in crater boild up, rised and sink, made a tongue of flames... overall that was exciting and awesome show!

After that we went to the next point... to the where the lava flow.
Unfortenatelly we cant get where it is still liquid, but found the place where it is like a condensed milk.
That was 10km far from the crater. And we went...

Wow, I love this thread, it has EVERYTHING!

Alic, Thank you for sharing. I never thought I would see photos of volcanic activity on this site. Outstanding photos.

Solving the ATcase problem...
As I live in mountain territory and have 35-38inch weel without low range in axles my AT don't tell me thank you.
Couple times i'v overheated AT oil and saw A\T temp bulb on my table.
So i Decided to mount an additional AT oil radiator.

I buy ussed engine oil radiator of MMC Pajero(~20$) and placed it before main radiator. Welded tibes and houset it.
AT-Additional Radiator-MainRadiator. That order. To give a posibility to AT oil warming up from the main radiator when it's cold outdoor.
Now problem solved. No overheating anymore.

Another problem was - that when I switched my transfer case to LOW position my AT did'n want to switch from 1 to 2 gear.
It switches only on 3000rpm - that was not good I thought. Or I should push 2nd button to start from 2 gear.

There is really not a problem - but on some rigs this point makes some trouble.
I troubleshoot it by dissconnecting plug from transfer case that give a signal to computer that LOW range in transfer case is toggled.

So I have two advantages. First - AT now switching very easy like on HIGH range and blocks Torque Converter(TC) at a speed of ~25-30kmh.
Blocked TC give on diesel fantastic power so I can drive at any ascending at a 1400rpm with 30kmh speed on 36-38 weels with even acceleration.
Second that now my Central differential is not lock when transferr case is on LOW range.
In steep mountain roads(offroads) where you did'n need Central DIFF locked - it is very useful. Or if you need to tow something heavy on common road and where you don't need hight speed... Or on the forest roads o any other off roads where you can't drive at a hight speed. It is very good idea to drive with LOW and 2nd pushed - 2gear at a LOW rougly equals 1 gear at HIGH. So virtually to switch between HIGH and LOW on transfer case you may simply push 2nd button.
AT works like a MT.

One more trip to Zirovaya bay.
~200 km from home. At the 50km from town we have no infrastructure. So took as much as we can and go.
Way is a rock road with ascending to 1200m and then descending down to sea level.
In the end hot springs and the bay.
We have 2 LC80 36 and 38 weels. LC Prado 38 weels. Couple Suzuki Escudo 29 and 31 weels.
It was the end of september 2015.
That trip we have lots of troubles and losts))

First of all a lost a front right weel... pity... it teared.
So set up spare 35 wheel and come back to drive.
Trouble don't come alone... the bottom axle base of rear spring on LC Prado roted off and falled off.
That was a realy problem. We bind it up with rope with rear arm and went to GeothermapSation to find a welder. Station was at 20km far.
Find necessary men and ask them for a welder. Welded spring base and went ahead.
While my brother has been fixing prado we took a walk around hot springs

Fantastic thread. Great story and I love your truck. Keep it coming...

We begin descending from the mountain pass.
Slopes are VERY steep and have made of earth. During the rain there is no way back.
Snowfields just melted week ago and the way opened. (Let me remind you that this is the end of september)

Rivers were small and not very small. We found abandoned broken truck in the forest. Took some photoes in it and went forward.
In the rivers and rocks Escudo slightly decrease their fuel tanks on the rocks) I think about 10lit) The don't have any tank armour and always beat them.

Then the swamp happends... with trash, broken side window deflectors, bonnets deflectors, mirrors, fenders, and bumpers and so on... but it is normal we just got accustomed)
winching, pulling, towing and we overcame!
The final point with hot spring are absent in photoes. There was late and we want to go to our camp beds.

Next day we took a direction to home. On the way we visited the bay.
Unfortenatelly the weather was not the best. There was slightly misty.
We made a fire and took a meal.
And as you may see, we have a black volcanic sand in our peninsula)

At night that day we changed oils in axles, greased drive shafts and washed our ropes. As always)
The End)
