I agree as others, I get tired of seeing total restores when functionability now days is very important to me. Nice work on the rig. I lived in Florence, S.C. for 35 years. Hope you get totally healed! Nothing like a back problem young or old it still hurts like a b--ch!!!
 
Yep the stinger needs some re enforcement. It wasn't ment to be permanent. The plan is to do the metal tech nosegaurd stinger combo. The one on there now was made out of material my step dad had laying around. It's mainly there to give you something to hold onto when messing with the winch when you sitting at a weird angle. Metal tech will be shortly after we get the "new" motor installed.

The "new motor" and some of the parts that Im getting cleaned up for the motor. Motor is good so were just going to put a few new gaskets an her and roll. (valve cover,side cover,oil pan thermostat, intake/exhaust.

The motor is getting a fresh coat of paint while she's out. Hitting it with degreaser and some ospho. Then were going with Ford blue for the main parts and sun yellow for the add on's. The chrome was pitted on the Downey header so it got cleaned up and painted with some high temp black. Should be interesting!

Thanks for all the kind words. I'm not a huge fan of the tail light's either. At the time it was a quick fix to get me on the road. I'm probably going to do some more LED's mounted somewhere else after the motor goes in. I'm also building a new license plate mount. It will still be on the spare tire but will have a 3rd brake light incorporated. I'm also going to be running a vintage 1972 license plate.

Me either. Thanks to my fellow upstate cruisers / lowcountry landcruisers it will be alot sooner than I expected!
 
How do you like the pathfinder swingout? I saw that there are a few J**p guys running them and wondererd if I might be able to modify one to work on the rear of my pickup with a similar set up to what you have. Will it handle a 35?
 
Handles a 35, 5 gallons of gas and a high lift. I have even stood on it while climbing onto the roof. Besides it was something like 10 bucks at the junkyard. Just make sure to get the latch parts.

FYI the bumper is overkill. 2X4" with a 2X2 upright with 1/4" tabs that the swing out mounts to. I also tacked it to the roll cage. I used plastic washers to help it swing easier. If I ever need to redo it I'll do bronze bushings.
