Well I am back on deck after a year or so off, been busy doing other things and since my original rebuild of my 1974 Fj40 (to a FJ43) has been running so well, have not been under any pressure to hurry the independent FJ40 chassis.

Also had to clean out my garage to make room for the new chassis and am now at a stage to slowing move forward.

What I have been doing over the last year or so is buy all the parts needed to build on the new FJ.

I now have a 5 speed box plus mounting brackets and going to run a disc park brake on the rear of the 5 speed, another 2H diesel motor, all electic diesel components, rotors, pads & calipers for front & rear, plus the rear caliper mounting brackets for FF rear axle. Also going to run a 80's series LSD rear diff and a brass Rad.

Still have about a dozen small items to buy like new tail lights, indicator lights, etc and I think I might get a copy made of the ARB bullbar made in alloy

My aim is to complete the new chassis to rolling stage and when ready just unbolt my sports tub and drop it on.......hopefully.

PS, I have orderred a new set of leaf springs & shocks for my current FJ as the beach has knocked around the ones from the rebuild in 2007-2008, the chassis is fine as like the new chassis are both hot Gal'ed and the sports tub is all fibreglass.

As I am building a coil spring chassis front end and it is a complete rebuild, I did not have any idea what the shims were to begin with to be able to put them back on the same way they came off, so need a SST.

About a year ago I decided that I would install a fully rebuilt 12ht diesel engine into this chassis instead of a 2H.

The 12ht basically is finished and I have sent off the IP pump to get overhauled as well as the turbo, exhaust manifold and turbo are also to be ceramic coated, inlet manifold, rocker cover, air intakes will be clear coat, heat shields all 2 pack coated.

All fuel injection lines, oil pipes, water heater pipes and assorted brackets will have a chrome 2 pack base coat with a red oxide crystal overlay (makes the finish look like that red anodized aluminium).

Thought of copying this 12ht? except the block will be Toyota blue and heat shields will a darker blue.

Good news, my IP pump checked out ok, just needed a full clean and service, bad news, all 6 injectors need a full rebuild, will be ready by end of the week.

Ordered a Harrop-Eaton E-locker diff for the front and will use Locka for the rear on this new chassis.

Also have ready the rebuily 5 speed transmission, and heavy duty clutch.

Just picked up my IP this afternoon from Diesel Australia, Algas St, Slacks Creek Qld 4127, dodged a bullet cost wise on the IP, they said it was in pretty good shape, full service, clean, few seals and bench test & calibrate..... $320.00

Not so lucky with the injectors, full rebuild on all six.......$480.00
