someone else mentioned that you should coat the innertube with dish soap (undiluted) and it will come off easier....

Interesting.

A ratchet strap wrapped around the circumference of the tire and tightened works quite well too (and I carry those ;))

Yep, that works good. OTOH, I've had it not work, but laying the tire/wheel inside up, run the air hose thru the hub and onto the valve. Then you can either push the wheel down to help seat the inside (top bead) or pull it up to help seat the outside (bottom bead).

Thanks for the video, TH........it's always good to have options.

buy a rim that is the proper width.

Cool idea Troll.

Both Troll and I wheel w/ a particular unamed party that likes to blow the bead on his 34x10.5x17's and the ratchet strap has failed to work twice now. I think its the tall and skinnies cause i did my 285's that way.

I know who you mean ;) and my 34" LTBs do the same. Must be that stock steelies and bias plies don't agree with each other. I reseated two tires on the last trip, by laying flat on level ground (a towel on the ground first helps) and then "massaged" the tire until it looked even all the way around. I then began to pump air into it and as it began to hiss before reaching critical mass, I pour water around the edge of the rim to "seal" it. Then POP - it seats itself. I've done this with my on board air and with a Powertank with success each time.
