I am also using Profitt's brackets, and experience ZERO rubbing w/Monte calipers and STOCK cruiser wheels.

I think my rotor machining expenses were $20 and some Ice Cream :D
Look around...anyone w/a lathe and some spare-time can take care of you.
(a pair of rotors can be machined together to save time)

As far as brake kits go, I don't recommend them.
It always seems to be more $$ then putting one together as time permits.

I've got a couple big ol' South Bend lathes and neither of them is close to having the throw to mount a truck rotor on it. Any old lathe ain't gonna do it. i did mine on my Bridgeport mill.

Fang brackets on mine. Calipers were something like $12 each from a Monte. I have more into the hoses than anything else. Regular old rubber hoses were $36 each IIRC.

I'm about to switch them over to my 55 from my 40 here shortly.

Where did you get the calipers for 12bucks each?

OK, I found a guy that will mill the centers for $20 each. Not bad for the mill work, so I will be putting together the parts myself. Now, it says 4.21" centers on this site http://wejacks.com/disk-brakes/disks.html so is that the correct size or do I need to take an old axle down with me just to be sure. I can get one from a friend who twisted his off if he has not thrown it away yet.

You guys who got the cheap calipers, are these loaded? I'm also wondering if I should get the '78 MC calipers for V6 or V8 or do you have the Car Quest part number available? These darn parts store guys don't want to help me out without the proper information. Any one have the Car Quest part number for the Raybestos flex hose (part # BH38149)?

Sounds like you need a different parts supplier if they cant use the computer to crossmatch different part numbers. Even the booger-eating morons at my local VatoZone can do that (even though they still think a Landcruiser is British).

Can't be THAT BIG if it will not swing 13".....hell my South Bend will do that...

I'm pissed that my center is not larger....

I agree. The store I called was close to my office, so I thought I would call them and see if they could price me the stuff I needed. I got a parts guy who will cut me a deal across town, but he was not at work today. He will get me what I need I'm sure. The guy I called was not able to do anything without Car Quest numbers. He didn't even act like he wanted to help with crossmatching Raybestos numbers with Car Quest. Them parts store guys ain't the sharpest knives in the drawer. If only they all employeed people like C-Dan it would be much easier. He's the bomb.
