Refresh my memory, is this "flat" spot near the centline of the vehicle or off to one side? I bought the light eight months ago but need to find time to install the little bugger!

To the left of center (toward US DS).

Just a quick pic of my fluro install. It's a Narva 12V13W fluro (can't remember the part #). I can highly recommend this light.

Any chance or seeing some more further away shots for some rough location before i start messing with the headliner? :D

I'm in the middle of this project with a bonus; tie all three dome lights together so they all come on at the same time. I mounted the 3rd dome light on the right (pass side) from the center line of the roof. This is where the other flat spot is located that hasn't been discussed. My primary reason for doing this is because of the Engel location. This light will allow me to see inside the fridge while camping.

The hardest thing is to run the snake through the headliner so that I can connect the first and the second dome lights together! The snake keeps running into the sunroof cassette but I'll prevail, damn it!

Ali

ps I purchased an identical dome light and George's LED.

Hi Kevin
I PM you, I posted all the pics I have of this install, I wish I could help more.:whoops: would you like me to measure its location?

How do you get your hands on the taped up wiring for the rear hatch light? I've got access on top and bottom of the pillar, but can't get my hands on anything I'm confident enough to pull out.

Do you go in from the top or the bottom? Is there a trick? I've got a 94... it's there, right?

I may or may not have this now.

I went a bit farther up the headliner and found what looked like the correct pair of wires, but they're not behaving quite as I expected.

Essentially, they seem act like a switch for the middle row lights.

Unloaded, the red had +12 and the blue had -0.

I went to -0 and -0 on red and blue when I put the load of the bulb on the circuit. The bulb did not light, but the middle trow dome light turned on.

If I short the wires together, the middle row dome light turns on.

Have I got the wrong two wires, i.e. the switch lead for the left barn door, or is this what everyone is working with? I don't see any other alternative loose wires.

Here's a picture for the thread. This is in a Dec 94 US vehicle.

What I unwound is in the taped wire that comes down and then doubles back on itself, terminating with two blue capped off terminators you see just below the rubber gasket.

The red wire is mine, and supports some other lighting I added.

Quick update for those of you who may want to use the Narva #87340 light. They were having some dramas with an internal component in the light failing so they have bought out a replacement model. The mark 2 lights (still #87340) now have a yellow doohickey under the lens near the switch rather than the old models blue doohickey. If you can see yellow near the switch you should be right but if you can see some blue near the switch don't be surprised if the light fails on you. We fit a heap of these lights at work and have only had a couple of faulty lights come back. Since the upgrade, not a one.

Connecting to taped up dome electrical in the rear left pillar

I'm still stumped on this one. Can anyone tell me if I've got the wrong wire pair, or if this is the correct behavior? It appears that pair of wires isn't included in my FSM electrical section, since they were not used.

I'm going to start work on a fairly elaborate work-around, but I'd hate to do it if it isn't necessary.

Thanks in advance...

T.
