you shouldn't be running 2900 rpm's down the freeway if you keep your speed down, using the eq above:

60mph = 2472 rpm's
55mph = 2266 rpm's

if you are keeping it to 55/60mph and don't need to go faster, then I would go 5.29's. You will pick up some off the line grunt and at 55mph you will be in the perfect rpm range.

Saw a CL add for someone that could possibly give you a hand installing when you get around to doing this mod. Might save you a few headaches if you plan on tackling this project on your own rather than taking it to a shop.
Ring and pinion setup and locker installs - Toyota Lexus

Going to have them do a complete front end rebuild too while they're there. Im going to go with Marlin's seals. Anything else i should get as opposed to OEM?

While they have the knuckles off w/steering.. im going to throw them bud-built steering and new tie-rod ends. They said they'll put them on for free.

Also, im having them do the rear wheel bearings.

Basically, doing all the stuff i haven't been able to maintain for a while now... and putting her back to where she belongs.

I am going to be calling YotaMasters VERY soon to have my front end rebuilt..l want to do pretty much the same setup you are doing....Maybe i can give you a ring soon and see how you like the new setup and get some idea of cost....

Technically it's still OEM but you should upgrade to the new OEM Knuckle Studs.

Sean, yeah give me a call. And no this isn't dirt bike $$$. its separate.. (funny what the ladies approve huh?)

Mark, good point.. NOTED and on the list!

Also, i think they're going to do my driveshaft ujoints (that are probably still original).

Dave, you know we are ALL going to want a test drive to feel the difference between stock and the 5.29's when you've got her back don't you.

Given the weight of your rig, do you think this will help with mileage?

Im hoping, but not counting on it. Ill be happy with it helping on slight grades and steep climbs. We get hit like a ton of bricks as it with 4.11's and 33's. Shoot 2 weeks ago we did another 18mph climb near Bakersfield... im so_tired_of_it.

First dibs on a test drive once they are installed! :flipoff2: It'll be interesting to compare a stock rig of almost the same weight as yours to your fat pig with the new gears! You running 33's or 35's? I don't remember.

nice. 5.29s and 33s would be overkill in my opinion but at 53 mph.....could be a good compromise. you can always go 35s if 5.29s are too low for 33s, which i think it is.

one thing you might want to look into is the longfield wiper seals. lifetime warranty but i think it may be for the earlier model cruisers.

The Yotamaster crew worked their butts off today... this is the report thus far..

"Rear is done. Ready for the tires to go back on. Front diff is done, parts all clean and painted. Knuckle studs replaced with new Toyota ones. Wheel bearings and birfs are repacked. Marlin front axle seals are in, knuckle bearing races are in. Just need to pack the knuckle bearings, put the front diff in, and put the front end back together. Also need to do the belts and grease the driveshafts."

Pick it up tomorrow night...

Nice...I know your pumped. I can't wait to hear how it drives.
