I am posting this in here to keep the FJ Cruiser/walmart haters from flaming the thread.

I was at wal-mart the other day and they had a Radio Controlled FJ Cruiser for $20.

It is the blue color and has the rock sliders and roof rack. And has the typical huge tires and huge front bumper that all RC 4x4s have.

The capabilities are terrible as it is only 2-wheel drive and has no suspension but it looks good setting on the shelf.

Ill see if i can get some pictures up of it sometime soon. Just though you guys might want one to set on the shelf.

lunyou

There is another FJ in here too.

The above are pretty hardcore at what they do, they take it very seriously.
I think it would be cool to have one if I could buy one turn key.
No time to build one myself.

Most of the small scale r/c crawlers are based off of the Tamiya TLT-1 kit. In stock form it isn't good for crawling but the aftermarket for these things is getting huge. Lockers, custom driveshafts, aftermarket chassis, heavy duty axles, gear reduction, portal axles, beadlock wheels (true functioning ones) and more.

No, they aren't $20. Most builds will run you anywhere from $450-$1500 depending on how crazy you want to go.

Corey, you can buy them turn key, ready to run. Check out thecrawlerstore.com

I just finished my first r/c crawler build and it is addicting. When I drive around I am always looking for new rock piles to conquer. There is a ton of info out there so if you are interested in building one, pm me and I can get you pointed in the right direction.

Hi-jack over.

that was NIIIIICE!
i didnt realize what builing one of those costs.
maybe someday....

This is the one I just finished building. Locked front, rear, and center. I run a very small 1/18th scale body so I don't get hung up on rocks as easily. If you did something like that FJC body, it would fit perfectly making it look a lot more true to scale.

It really is amazing what these things can climb and navigate through. I tend to be a little heavy on the throttle finger but still haven't broken anything yet. I have spare axle shafts just in case there is a little carnage. In the pics you can see my 4 link setup (using real rod ends) and custom driveshafts. I have a set of larger shafts ready to throw in if my current ones fail.
