Throwing this in Chit-Chat because it’s a funny story. I brought home a Triumph GT6 on 4th of July weekend. My dad came over for my daughter’s Birthday party August 1, and took the GT6 out for a spin at the end of the day. My dad has never been a “car guy” and has never made an Illogical or impractical decision in his life. But, he has always had a soft spot for little sports cars.

I asked him what he thought of the GT6 and he said “if I get back in that thing, I’m driving it home.”

Three days later I get a text from my mom: “You’ve created a monster, your father won’t stop looking at British sports cars on the internet.”

So, like the good enabler that I am, I showed my dad, who doesn’t have facebook, or a cell phone, how to use Facebook Marketplace from my mom’s account. My mom (who knows nothing about cars) then had to become a begrudging middleman in my dad’s Facebook care negotiations.

And, a few weeks later, I’m one of the most unprecedented about-faces in my family’s history, my dad is now a British car guy. We dragged home a 1964 TR4 on Saturday…

Almost lost the hard top on 295 and got to endure my second experience backing a 48” track width car down a trailer with a 43” gap in the middle… but, my dad is a happy guy, with a toy that will keep him plenty busy in retirement.

Jealous!

All happened almost by accident.
Had a site walk through in Denver on Friday. I was been thinking about driving the 8hrs to slc after the review depending how long it ran...but knowing how these things can play out, wasn't holding high expectations. Ended up being pretty quick so decided to make the trip, enroute one of our other PMs got word I was out west and asked if I swing into Salt Lake city to put eyes on something for him....not knowing exactly where I was...."yeah i can probably make for you"....by 9am Saturday morning I was at cruiserfest 26.

So while redoing my steering I broke my HF vise. Excessive force may have been installed but still, shouldn’t do that. So replacement was in order. Marketplace to the rescue.

And while I was there, I came across one of the HF benders for cheep. Always wanted to try one and some of the tricks people have worked up for them seem to make them useful. This winter I’m doing new sliders and cage tie-ins, this should come in handy.

The Colombian should still be better than the really cheap HF one and was a good price. I also was waaayyyyy overdoing it when I broke the HF vise, I had a +3’ extension on a 2’ pipe wrench trying to break something free and was leaning into it with about all my weight………..
