How did het get them to mount? The frame or somewhere else?
Frame U bolts. Custom build around the exhaust. Jason did a beautiful job. I’ll shoot some pictures in day time.

It seems that 70-Series keep coming to these countries and this is great.
What I cannot understand is that our governments in the West DO NOT permit the import of the 70-Series (in Euroland since...2001), although they DO even donnate these Cruisers to other countries of the globe!*... 🤔

Hello,

At some point, the powers that be in Europe and North America decided 70 Series were either too basic or too unsafe for their standards. The latter includes emissions.

The rest of the world thinks differently. Not many vehicles can handle harsh applications like two years in the mines, twenty thousand kilometers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, or a typical tour of duty in war zones, to name a few.

This is why the 70 Series is the world's workhorse.

While the “powers that be” certainly aren’t helping the situation, the main reason you don’t see the new 70 Series in the U.S. is the American consumer themselves. If you look at the new truck offerings from the big 3, they all have 20 cup holders, many of which can hold a jug of milk, airbags out the wazoo, heated and cooled seats (and in some cases, heated steering wheels), numerous driving aids that in theory, keep you from doing something stupid, all of which the American consumer now expects in a new vehicle. Even the newest 70 Series lacks the majority of these items and is best described as a “TOOL” more so than a vehicle.

No one in Europe specifically decided to ban the 70. In 2001 the Euro3 emission norm entered in application for every cars and Toyota decided the low sales of 70 series in Europe were not worth them bothering, so Toyota pulled the 70 from the market. Before that they were already down marketing the 70 in favor of other models... In 2000 you often had to special order your 70 from Toyota... wasn't waiting on display in showrooms.

As the grey importers proved it it was really easy to adapt the 1HZ to euro3 norm... Actually they were able to get it all the way up to euro5 (up to 2015).
Toyota could also have sold the HDJ7* they got in Australia from 2001... HDJ100 with the same engine were sold in Europe.
And GRJ7* from 2007... You could had the exact same engine in a 120 or150 Prado and grey importer still import GRJ7* without trouble.

It's a pure Toyota choice. Not enough sales in this market, preference to sale more expensive models in this market, etc...

Yes, in the case of the US, the general population doesn’t want a truck like a 70 series, they want something that looks like a truck, rides like a waterbed, has the ground clearance of a formula 1 car yet handles like a well tuned shopping cart. As my Dad used to say, once the engineers in America surrendered control and let the lawyers and bankers run the businesses, we were doomed.

Love the factory winch and front bumper combo. Any chance those show up on their own for purchase?
