So I started talking to my buddy who is gonna be doing my wiring and he suggested it would be easier to replace my entire 22r vehicle harness (bumper to bumper) with the 22re harness.... Thoughts???

Ok check it out, so find the plug that connects your coil/igniter to your engine bay wire harness. Should be a black wire with red dashing. It goes into a loom and into the driver fender. You simply cut it, splice on a wire to a toggle switch and back to the other cut end of the original coil wire. If you don't want all the extra wire to litter your engine bay, you can pull the fender and do your splice there. This is also preferred that way if crackheads are looking in your engine bay they don't see anything. Strategically locate your toggle switch so it cannot be easily found

I agree with your buddy. Its what I did. Made it a hell of a lot easier no real wiring involved besides checking stuff.

Anybody ever do a complete harness swap??? How much of a headache is it? Does everything go in pretty easy or not so much? My plan is to yank my entire vehicles wiring and swap in a 89 4Runner harness. I know I'm gonna need to cut out a few things but I hope it's not too bad. Any feedback would be awesome. Thanks!

Toast, its what I did. It was simple. Just pull the dash pull out all the old wiring and new wiring goes in. Tail light plugs were the same and I had to swap gas tank plugs but that's easy. Some plugs you may have to check but ignition worked for me and so did wipers. Not sure about turn signals as I haven't wiring those in yet.

It won't. The bevels on the top are different and the plugs for turn signals up from are different so they need put together.

First pic is my 84 tank and the second one is my 89. I'd you notice there is more slope to the 84 then 89 to dit the body better

Hey Toast, you sure you've got a 14 gallon tank? Should be 17 stock. Its what's listed in my 1984 Toyota pickup owners Manual. An I can let you know if the 1985 Toyota pickup tank I ordered will work once it arrives Tuesday.

Let me know if you need anymore.

Strange..

My 85 deluxe came with a 14 gallon tank. A buddies 85 SR5 had a 17 gallon tank ... which now lives in my truck.

Mines getting a 17 gallon tank from a base model 85 EFI truck assuming it fits.

Hey toast. This is the gas tank I used. It came off amazon and is 17 gallons and fit perfectly. Just had to reuse the the old filler neck and attachment. It has no drain plug though is my only compliant
