Radiators to the back, what do you think..? (1 Viewer)

When you're wheeling at low speed, the fan is doing all the work pulling air through a front-mounted radiator anyway. It's the exact reason why people run electric fans such that you're still moving alot of air at low RPMs. With two big electric fans, it wouldn't seem to matter to me whether the rad is in the front or back, as you're not relying on vehicle speed for cooling. It'll be interesting to see how it works out. If nothing else, it's different, and I can't fault you for trying something new!

most of the mud guys around here run rads in the back and they work well .all are in pickups ,i had one in my 40 but did not like having anything between me and 200 degree water.i carry a pressure sprayer and just keep the rad clean.i had a drive line issue in a cruiser years ago so i lenghtned the hood and fenders 4 "and kept the rad in the front .i hope this works out ,you also gain about 2 extra gallons of coolant and keeping it low means the water pump wont have to work as hard.good luck

Looks like a busy project. If I may add my 2 cents, I would suggest using one large puller fan mounted on the outside (rear) of the radiator. It would deflect more sound out and away from the cab, be more efficient in cooling, and maybe even take less electrical draw. Maybe if a lincoln MKVIII fan were used.

Many types of heavy machinery use this set-up(though their engines are usually in the rear as well). Pusher fans tend to be less effective when it comes to moving air. I wish I could remember why, but I don't.

Just something to think about. Keep up the project and take lots of pics.

some of my parts have arrived
One of the fans is damaged, the box has no scratch...???

X2 Yeah you want to pull the air through the radiator rather than push. Pushing creates pressure in between the fan and the radiator while pulling it will create a vacuum between the fan and the radiator. You move way more air in a vacuum.

:bounce::clap:Thanks for all the comments,:clap::bounce:

After reading all,I think it is better to use the fan as puller,
I had a hard time with the comment of RUSTY_TLC (laminar flow),
I had to look it up in Wikipedia in order to understand what it means,
on the end I got it. Thanks anyway,

For those of you who want to know how the project goes on,
I have a new Thread

im thinking of doing this would aluminium irrigation pipe be alright i can get it $7 a metre i have a body lift so i can run it along the top of the chassis also how are people attaching it like mounts and everything.
