I'm an expert in exploding radiators. I've had a bunch of diesel surfs and one thing you can count on with the 2lte and 1kz Toyota engines is that they are going crack the head and pressurize the water jacket. I've burst all aluminum radiators and -plastic tanked radiators. It's easy to tell if it's pressurizing, start the engine and squeeze the radiator hose. It will be hard instantly if you have a problem. The reason the diesels explode the rad is the head cracks between the valves and combustion pressure goes straight into the water jacket. The land cruiser has a good head so it's usually just the gasket and that doesn't seem to let as much pressure in.
