So I am 98% complete on the Chevy SB 350 rebuild. I knew going into this that I would have to deal with the old radiator at some point, I was just hoping that it would be later and not sooner...

Well. the original radiator leaks and has been patched several times. I've got two quotes for a recore: $375 and $400. I've got a pause on this option as I hate to throw $400 at the radiator.

I have read many post regarding options for a radiator for a sbc 350 in a pig. One post states that a 36"x19" Chevy would be the best option and I did find a very nice radiator at the pick and pull with those specs. However, I see NO way that size could fit in my 79. (?)

The other post have useful info, but I'm open to some "fresh" ideals and advise. I want to protect my investment and above all, I am for doing things the right way the first time.

Does anyone have a part # for a drop in radiator at Summit or elsewhere that effectively cools a sbc 350?

MANY THANKS for advise.

My '69 has a SBC and the stock radiator was shot.
I went with a new 4 core radiator for an FJ62 from Radiator Barn. It's slightly longer but I was able to install it with the original nuts using some brackets. If I remember correctly the price was about what they wanted for your recore. Delivered to the front doorstep in 3 days.

I can confirm a FJ/HJ 60 radiator does fit with some small brackets.
However, the hoses need to be tighten & squashed on the radiator inlet/outlet necks as they are slightly smaller.

chevurai, I have a question for you though. Does it keep your SBC cool ?

Yes. The 7 blade mechanical fan blade helps and a shroud is always a good idea.
It is possible to get hoses with different diameters on the ends. Try a search on Summit or Jegs.
My son drives a 40 with a SBC and a stock size (4 core) radiator, 5 blade fan, and shroud. No cooling problems.

I don't know nuthin' about v8s. I do think that is real high for a recore. Is this with you bringing the radiator in to the shop? or them pulling it?
