So I have owned several pigs over the years, still one of my faves. Bought and sold several and it was sometimes quite a challenge, as there always seemed to be plenty of cheap pigs around, and the "nice ones" were around $10k. I finally have a workshop space again and a few weeks ago I started looking for a pig to add to the stable. I have never had a problem finding either a parts worthy truck for $2k or less, or a decent pig for $5k or so and really nice ones for around 10-12k. I don't seem to be able to find ANY now...and the ones I do find are 15, 20, 25k! Or they are the former parts worthy trucks for 5-6k. Have you all noticed this? Have we finally weeded out all the rust buckets, and people are actually appreciating the pigs now? Just curious...might have to start with a 40 project until I find a decent pig. :) Thanks all, you guys (and gals, sorry Ige) rock!!

I've watched Pig prices climb over the past few years. Seems to me that their prices correspond to a general upturn in the economy since the downturn of '08. And, yeah, these rigs seem to be harder and harder to find.......

Tim:
Like you, I've owned several. Five, in fact, since 2008. All contributed something to the one I've restomodded into my daily driver. Three went to others who wanted to keep or get them usable, only one was ultimately relegated to pieces but it was pretty much parted by the time I ended up with it.
Current parts prices make me wish I hadn't sold a bunch of extra stuff so cheaply over the years. Pricing for roadworthy Pigs seems to be all over the place but I notice the ones on Ebay and elsewhere with outrageous asks don't move very often. Nor do the rust buckets where the ask is beyond the value. Mid-level "possibles" do seem to be inching up. As with most things, you get what you pay for and market demand fluctuates with the economy and other factors.
I'm happy to see values headed upward but it really makes no difference to me, luckily. I'm already in, what I've invested is probably below what I could get if I sold out, but that's just monopoly money because I have no intention of ever selling.
I'm also lucky enough to be the beneficiary (on paper, at least) of the rising tide of early Porsche prices. The 914-6 we bought brand new 44 years ago and are just wrapping up a refurbish on, has gone through the roof pricewise. But, again, I can't foresee any circumstance where it'd be for sale in my lifetime.
Even a blind hog stumbles across an acorn or two now and then.
Good luck in your search...

I have always looked after I trapped my piggy and I have noticed in the last year, at least in socal, there are junkers for 5k+ with "rare" pasted all over the ad or mostly original pigs for 20k+. Hope you can snag one. I like the prices going up but i won't ever sell it so I guess like riderjegs said, it doesn't really matter.
