Quick question re engine bay size compared to 40

I am spinning on engine options and looking hard at a 1UZ for my '76. I seem to recall reading that the pigs engine bay is about an inch and a half shorter than the 40(?) For now, the thought is to follow the 1UZ swap that @effjay76 is in the middle of (pairing it to an H42) but want to be aware of any issues before I source an engine... (Yes, I would use an H55f if I could find one for a reasonable price). Will be going SOA.

Year of the hood makes a difference up and down. That’s 75 and up.

The firewall to radiator is shorter on all until 1978 when the radiator changed

There wasn’t any clearance issues for me. The firewall will interfere but my drivetrain had already been placed forward from a sbc swap. By the way the conversion is complete and it’s awesome.

no old build was on a now gone Birfield.com .. fit was good notched the trans tunnel to move the engine assy upward . and have good clearance by the radiator for the oe clutch fan .
