Does anyone know if the Quick Hinges are still being made? I ordered a set from MC design offroad in July, They took my money but never sent them, I have emailed them multiple times but never had any response. Thanks

I tested some new 2 part epoxy on mine, but after 2 rounds of degreasing, the epoxy just wouldn’t stick. It also sprayed terribly.

But I just wanted to say that these things are great quality and fit perfectly on my ‘67, which doesn’t always happen with parts! Thank you!

Yeah, I can't wait to try mine out. I bought a set several months ago back when they were telling me that my paint and body work would be done in a couple of weeks, so it has been like a big tease waiting to try my hinges out.

But, I choose to believe that 2026 is going to be great for my family and I, and I'll have no more (or way less) pain and get the FJ40 done and enjoy taking the boys fishing in it AND teach my oldest how to drive in it!

@nabbasi i reached out to Fluidfilm to ask for their recommendations for removing the damp product for painting.

I will post back up once I have that info. I expected it would degrease readily.

Matthew
Thanks, Matthew! Ah, fluid film…a season’s worth of rain and sun knock it off on my 78!:D

I haven’t heard back from my inquiry with Fluidfilm yet, but a local yota buddy suggested using brake cleaner to clean the film off of the hinges prior to paint prep.

I will work to ask from Fluidfilm what they recommend and will report back.

Metal pores suck up oil. Wash with brake clean, heat mildy with like a propane torch, then wash again with brake clean.
That’s what I missed. Heat. Should have hit it with the torch!

thanks for checking @69LC - not an issue of yours at all!

These other responses are spot on accurate. And since I was a young man, my 'go to' to clean anything off has been Berryman's B12 Carburator Cleaner. When I was young, I worked my butt off to clean the engine and engine bay of my 1969 Chevy 1/2 ton short wheelbase fleet side and repainted it all. I was soooo proud of how good it all looked that 2 weeks later I popped the hood and decided to clean it all really good to keep it looking like new, so I sprayed the engine with B12 and watched as the paint job I had worked so hard on just melted away!!! Lesson learned. HARD lesson. 😞

Got an email from a local fab shop I had quote me work last year. They still had my Ambi-door hinge prototype stuff.

Should I still pursue this? I still would need to mock up some fab fixtures for the two sets worth I have.
this is all stainless, not sure why it didn't get cut from reg'lar old steel... the 3d stuff is plastic my son printed before he moved out.
