I recently replaced all the door speakers and the head unit and have been looking for something to round out the sound in the truck. I thought about a number of different products in several locations but I went with a Blaupunkt THB 200A.

I had removed the stock sub and amp years ago to make room for my OBA setup, my inverter is mounted behind the panel where the storage pocket used to be, so this seemed like the ideal choice. Power and audio are there so I cut into the existing harness that used to feed the sub and shebang...subwoofer.

Sound is OK to me, but I'm not an audiophile and my truck is not a pristine listening environment. Cheap, quick, easy, and effective.

did you just tap into the old sub wires for the high current left and right channels? i was thinking of doing that but hadn't gotten around to looking into if it would work well.

Very cool! I have an Infinity BassLink that I've been considering installing in my 80, but even as small as they are, they're often times in the way. On the other hand, your unit is MUCH more compact and tucked away........Does it put out pretty strong bass?.............I didn't know these existed........off to look at specs!

x11 on what you used for power. Did you run an rca cable to the head unit or did you use the existing wires?
Thanks,
Paul

EDIT: I finished reading your post and the answer to my question was right in front of me:whoops: With that being said what kind of head unit did you use? How hard was the install of that?:grinpimp:
Thanks

Do your think it's going to stay secure just bolted into the plastic panel? Did you put any metal straps behind it to help with support?

There are fender washers behind the plastic panel for added support. The combined weight of the sub and inverter is considerable so I added 2 screws through the plastic into existing threaded holes in the body.

LOL, I ran a pair of audio cables down the right side channel before I thought to look at the schematic. I had intended to use the RCAs on both the head and sub, but the harness was there and I didn't have to pull the dash apart again. I knew power was there because that's whats running my OBA logic.

Here's the thread on the head unit:

Like I said, sounds OK to me.

Hey Jon,
When you hooked this set-up to the original sub harness what which wire did you use for the remote/acc (blue) wire of the new amp? Also, how did you rig it with the speaker wire from the harness?
All of my speakers are going silent when I rig the speaker wires to the new amp.
Thanks for the assistance...

Whatchutalkinboutwillis? There was no blue wire. I used red and black (+12 and GND) tied into +12 and GND that the OEM sub amp used. I used the existing inputs to the OEM sub amp (L+;L-;R+;R-) and that's all she wrote. No magic here.

i run a bazooka tube and used a rca converter off the factory sub speaker wires. i just used the speaker wires first but was not happy and went to the rca converter with much improved results.

I mounted the tube to the thrid row bracket with large hose clamps, this combined with the fact that the tube only has one plug makes it super easy to remove for the thrid row seats. Although that also makes for dirty theives.
