How important is it for this pin to be in the hole? Can i just angle grind it off? Im clocking the turbo

Clocking the hot side of a VNT can be done, but you can only clock it to a few specific locations. You can get rid of that pin, just make sure that the orientation is spot on before bolting the CHRA back into the exhaust housing. Here are the photos from when I did mine: Builds - Another Prado in Montana - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/another-prado-in-montana.1026093/post-11882334

And the post I used for inspiration: '99 Audi A4Q/2.0TDI Conversion - https://forums.tdiclub.com/index.php?threads/99-audi-a4q-2-0tdi-conversion.212459/page-3#post-2230776

I used the same paper template trick: I measured the diameter of the exhaust side of the CHRA and drew a circle in CAD, then divided it into equal parts (11 in my case since my turbo has 11 vanes) and printed it at 1:1 scale. The turbo can be clocked to any of the 11 positions that doesn't have a little support roller. To mark the correct position I made a tiny notch with a file on the outside surface of the exhaust housing, and a corresponding notch on the CHRA.
