I recently resealed the fuel tank and replaced all the hoses, the filter, gas cap, and the charcoal canister. I have about 3 gallons of fuel in the tank, but none of it is getting to the fuel filter. I’ve checked and double checked the fuel line plumbing and everything seems correct. How long does it take to purge all the air from the lines? Should I add more fuel? Anything else I should do?

Thanks!

Sure, add more fuel, if you disconnect the fuel line before the filter does fuel come out? take off the gas cap. Fill the carb bowl and start the engine.

how long have you cranked the engine? does your fuel pump work?
I’ll crank it for 5-10 seconds. I’ve done this about 20 times. It’s a new pump and was working before I removed the tank and hoses. I cleaned the hard lines with carb cleaner and blew them out.

To answer a previous question, there is not fuel on the hose prior to the filter.

double check the lines are hooked up right. will a suction tool pull fuel from the hose going to the fuel pump?

Simple, move towards the tank until fuel starts to leak, begin reconnecting. Or use a vacuum pump to pull it through, but vacuum can be trickier if you aren’t sure it’s air tight to the tank.

I've had luck pressurizing the fuel tank. Used my shop vac to blow air into the tank. Done this a few times when I've replace fuel lines, filters or removed the tank. Didnt take much either to get fuel to the pump.
