Think it would make a notable difference on this old dog? They are sure proud of those things.
To be honest probably not but the bolt trick may be sloppy.

Ps. Don't be cheap.

Gonna see if they have a bolt that is a snug fit here at my local shop. If not, I’ll do TT.

Maybe I’m being too cavalier about the need for this thing. I’m really gonna eat my words if I have death wobble tomorrow.

The best place to cheap out is on safety related systems. Put all your money into light bars and traction boards.

Is there a safety differential from one aftermarket brand to another? Genuinely curious here.

If we’re talking about steering dampers, my experience is along the lines of, “probably”.

I had replaced my damper with some whatever I could get from whichever auto parts store. Seemed fine until I put a Dobinsons (not an endorsement, I still think they generally suck) one on and it was a noticeable difference in handling.
That was on my 40.

On my 62 I replaced whatever was on there with an OME one and while there was also other work done, I felt the damper did improve handling. Most notably the tracking was more positive if that makes any sense.

All right. That does make sense.

Had a quick consult with @wngrog and he's ordering me the Terrain Tamer.

Shout out to @Andrew S for making these plastic guides for where the hand throttle cable attaches to the upper portion of the pedal. Mine had probably broken off 30 years ago on whatever rig it was on back then. Nice work!

@cbmontgo waited patiently for a year for me to get this done... thanks for testing out the first batch!
I've had a couple more requests for these, so I'll make a some extras. If anyone else needs one, get in touch. 78449-90300 "Guide, Throttle Wire", has been discontinued for a while.

Time flies.

I was going through some old trip pics from the 35mm film days and came across this one. In the lead is my old silver '85 FJ60, trailed by @xumFJ40 in his '75. Somewhere down in the depths of Big Bend National Park. That was my first Land Cruiser. At the time it had stock suspension and Kirkland Signature (aka Costco) tires. Man I loved that rig.

This is a great reason to still shoot film. You won’t likely stumble across pics from your last wheeling trip off your phone in 10 years.

This is extra true with kids.

My left ambulance door has been missing the lower latch for a long time, and I've been looking forever to find this part. My amby door popped loose the other day and I knew it was time to fix this.

Found the upper latch hardware at Proffitt's and mixed/matched it with the old linkage that was still in the door. Back in business now.

Just FYI, the parts are a little different between the top and bottom latches but can be interchanged pretty easily. The "bolt" unscrews from the linkage and can be taken out with the spring.

Had a productive shop day Saturday. Helped @wds1279 install an OME lift on his beautiful navy blue 200 Series.

Also picked up a new trailer for hauling rigs. A trip to Big Bend is in the not too distant future.

Put some road test miles on the new trailer today. Trying to find the perfect balance of the right tongue weight and keeping heavy stuff ahead of the axles. Getting it pretty well dialed in.

And maybe added a new decal.
