It's been a month since my last post. After removing the head and having it checked at the machine shop. it turned out the head had a crack as well.
so I was on the hunt for 61040 head. Luckily I found one here in the classifieds section. Apparently Beno had a nice refreshed and machined head available.
So I reached out to him made the payment he packed it up and shipped to me.
I got the surface of the block all cleaned up painted the head installed new head gasket that came with he head and on it went. Got it all torqued down installed the valve train and adjusted the valves.
hopefully get everything else installed and she should be on the road soon. Also, throwing this out here. the 60 may be up for sale if anyone or you know of anyone interested. send me a PM.

I know you were thinking of selling when the head gasket blew, but now it'll be back on the road and running good. Still thinking of selling???

New head looks great by the way. Shiny!

I have been driving the cruiser around town since it’s new head and head gasket and its been running great.
I took her on a longer drive A/C pushing cold air and the truck has not skip a beat. Runs cool still slow but nevertheless steady.
I’ll call it fixed.
Thanks @OGBeno for shipping out the fj60 head.
