It is looking good buddy. I could use a hand from time to time at my place with mine. I can come and help you with your as well. I really need to get the engine mounted in my frame so I can fire mine up and see how she runs. After that itis time to get mine mine into a roller. So much to do.

I'm very jealous of your 302, believe it or not. Do you know what heads and intake you have (i.e. casting number) must of them are under the valve cover. Just know that 302s are not the most cool running motors and really like a thick aluminum radiator if you have any issues down the road.

@FJsnoozer - I know nothing about this motor yet the heads have a stamping that says 289. but i actually had a neighbor come over and say the motor looked way to big to be a 289. Im trying to see if i can find the stamping on the back of the motor but its raining right now which isnt very helpful. When I have more info I'll post it up.

I have managed to get the motor running a little bit, i think i need to make some adjustments on the carb to keep her running, but the rain has also hindered that progress. Ill see if it stops if i cant get it going for a little bit and make a better video then before.

Your neighbor is a genius.

289 and 302s are identical from the outside inside. You can take it as far as 347 with 30 overbore and a stoker. And it would all e the same size from the outside. One thing is for sure, you have 289 heads. That's old school I they are ported. Probably the best iron 2v head you can get is the gt40p. I ran those on my old 302 and made 295HP/325tq at the wheels. You could make 275 with a cam more suited to a 4wd truck. Like the stock HO cam if your block is hydro roller.

Yea, i have no idea about anything with the motor, if it ever stops raining ill get a casting number and see if can figure anything out. Im pretty sure they went with every summit/jegs aftermarket part they could find since i did find roller rockers under the valve covers, i would think those werent stock? so ill have to see what kind of info i can gather

No progess again today thanks to the lovely rain all day today, have part of a day tomorrow before its back to work so hopefully i can get the carb adjusted.

Jumped way ahead and went and bought me some tail lights. 6 inch optronic oval LED's will mount them into the stock rear bumper until i build a rear bumper. Got a new liner coming for the welder im using so hopefully ill be able to patch up the crooked tail light holes cut into the rear quarters some time next week.

New lights

been a while since my last post not much progress except wasting more of my money

so trying to make some adjustments to my carb and tightening the carb down broke the front passenger side ear off my holley carb...so looking into carbs it was recommended to use a motorcraft 2100 hundred. so looked around and 2 junk yards later i found a couple! also got an intake manifold so i wouldnt have to use an adapter plate.

heres what im working with right now...oh yea i bought 2 carbs just because lol

and the intake...anyone have any good ideas on how to clean this bad boy??

Ok its been a while and mostly been struggling with vacuum leaks and carb issues with the 4bbl to 2bbl adapter plate. so im going to be taking my 2bbl intake in to be cleaned so i can just throw it on and hopefully take care of that problem.

i removed the hood to make it easier to get around everything

started with removing the power steering to show the sweet set up that was previously on the car.

cutting the bracket off

also I was at the beach last week and saw this sweet rig...im gunna post in the 45 section and see if hes a member

worked on getting the engine out today so i could redo the engine mounts...im hoping i will be able to tuck the drivetrain up as far as possible to have a nice smooth bottom. now back to work tomorrow hopefully able to fix cross member and work on some mounts next week.

engine almost out

engine out awaiting its temporary resting spot

empty engine compartment

Did you ever get that thing running correct before you pulled it out ? I will be all done with my motor mounts and crossmember this week. I only have one more ear to tack into place. Just waiting for it to come in the mail. Both me and Austin need help taking out bodies off the frame. I need to weld everything up, and cut the rest of my floor out before it goes back on. Once we do that, I will wire it up and get the radiator and fuel hooked to it so I can hear that baby purr for the first time. So maybe next weekend or this weekend you can come give us a hand. He needs to get his body off so he can box in the frame and get his rear done. Looking good though.

DOC - yes and no, i had it running and then messed with it a bit and messed it up...i need to change out the intake and was bored one day and just sort of spur of the moment decided to yank the motor.

yesterday i removed the tcase from the tranny and and the tranny from the motor as part of my process to go through and redo everything touched by the PO this proved to be the right thing to do when 3 of the bolts holding the tcase to the advance adapter were hand tight if that

today i started cleaning the t-case to prep it for possible rebuild and paint so we will see how that goes
