i had a dream of taking 3 months off and drive from florida to across the border into Mexico and down to Peru and back with my wife. The dream vehicle that could do it all in style is the fj40. After spending almost 18mo. reading everything i could find about fj40 & drooling over the fj40s here on mud. It was time to move forward. step 1) As i was advised here on mud I made a list of my needs: reliable, good power, can go long distances before needing to re-fuel (diesel), power steering, A/C (it gets hot where i live). step 2) locate a rust free fj40. sent it to Proffitt's cruisers and had them go through it top to bottom mechanically. everything on this truck was gone through, front and rear axels, PS. all 4 wheel disc break, 1HZ diesel engine & H55 5 speed trans, A/C. front and rear ARB air lockers. (9 months). as soon as i got it to FL. i had a body shop take it completely apart, blast it to bare metal, prime, paint factory colors and reassemble, adding a rear long range 22gal. go over 400mi between refueling. Quick release front door hinges for super quick & easy front door removal. No expense was spared, i wanted the best of the best and all work was professionally done. this vehicle drives amazingly well on and off road. why am i selling it... in the nearly 2 years it took to complete the truck the wife and i got pregnant and had our son 3mo after i got the truck done. no trip to mexico... but more kiddies to come. so the short of it is. it just sits in the garage collecting dust and the 80 series is the "family friendly" rig the little kids can safely travel in.

i took it to the body shop that painted it 5yrs ago and had them address (touch up) the pin striping that i got at GSMTR 2013. and lm going out NOW to flip the bezel back the proper way. Pull the winch line through the fairlead, put the rear factory floor mat back in etc. and yes the (saggy baggy) head liner is being replaced asap.

This is beautiful. And lesson #1 not to have kids! :flipoff2:

I wish I had $60k laying around collecting dust. GLWS

Sweet rig. GLWS!

I've spent a lot of time around this 40 and can attest to its quality and awesomeness.

The owner, Dominick, is also a good friend of mine and a stand-up guy.

Do you want me to post some of the engine bay pictures I have @super40?

theres been a little drama here in florida with the hurricane. its will be listed on eBay this week. ill post link here on mud after listing it.

Wish I had the money, GLWS!

Thanks ...there was a guy here on mud producing them (although I haven't see anything about them in a few yrs.) that I bought a set from. They are far superior for me than stock front door hinges, more stout and allow the front doors to come off and on quick and easily. ill post a pic in a few hrs

Kids only increase the adventure for true adventurers. Get the rug rats in there and peel out. you will regret selling that.

As my wife says in our rigs, "comfort kills".

yeh the kiddies love to play in dads fj40. we will see what happens. its a shame to see it sit in the garage, we take the 80 everywhere, its not only way more comfortable but more importantly safer for the little ones.
