Pretty small oil filter

People tout the increased capacity of the bigger filter. I wonder why 8 qts isn’t enough.

Have people been seeing the bypass opening up on smaller filters with modern oils?

The small Toyota filter is the same for the 4.7L V8 in my wife's 2004 100 series Cruiser. It was built with much tighter tolerances, and has 198k miles. I think it will suffice for our 2F's.

I've been using rotella 15/40 with zddp and a wix filter until now.
Just ordered baldwin filters after reading some disparaging comments on the wix filters. Just trying to do my best with the basics. Thanks.

You'll be happy with the B2's performance. Also, they are basically the same size as the original, as well as a cross reference between the two.

Like the others have said, there are smaller ones and larger ones that would work just as well. All that really matters is the faith you put into the products you install on your rig.

I roll with these as a religion ,

i cut one apart a few years ago and the Guts were the same as a TOYOTA 15600-41010

yes, its made in Malaysia , But a JAPAN design

why NOT use the 90915- YZZD3 TOYOTA on a 2F :

- Reduces overall oil capacity by around 1/2qt

- Reduced Overall Surface area of the Filter Media to catch fine particles of matter

- NO pressure relief valve

- made in Thailand Rubbish

- it simply looks like its out of place ? ( IMO )

I don't think the fact that those Genuine Toyota filters are now made in Thailand automatically make them rubbish. Sure, I would prefer them to be made in Japan using the older design, but these Toyota filters are still miles ahead on quality over your Fram parts store special.

Those Union Sangyo filters do look nice though.

You really don't need to worry about the filter clogging and opening the bypass on either filter unless something catastrophic goes on with your engine, or you don't plan on changing the oil filter for the next decade.

Matt @RAGINGMATT that’s what I have on my early 1F waiting for the day it gets fired up. It came with the remote filter kit from SOR. I love the FABRIQUE EN THAILANDE, lol.

i said rubbish not garbage :)

A specialized tool for cutting open oil filters. Interesting,

Looks like we’ll need a mudship for the JS filters from Singapore though.

I’d like to see that done on the old Toyota Japanese filter.

the Filter Evaluation Video Posted Above by @GA Architect is Pretty Kool ,

i have Not seen that before ?

I liked how The DENSO Filter made it to the Finals , ( i think ? )

I did not see my trusty UNION SANGYO in his line up ?

so i added it myself to be judged equally .................. :)

@hobbes

- The C-110 has a Very Thick Metal Canister , if i were to guess 20ga Gauge steel

- the Gold element spring was Very Heavy Duty

- The Pressure Relief Valve was Indeed there and had a steady pressure when depressed with My TOYOTA SHOP PEN

- The Rubber gasket inside / Anti Drain Back Valve was Super Thick & Heavy Duty / Formed type Shape , NOT the Cheap Flapper

we saw in the examples in @GA Architect 's first Video

- The Media Filter itself was Very Thick and Stout , NOT Cardboard or Foam In any way

- The O-Ring Gasket on Bottom comes Pre-Lubricated with Clear Grease of some kind , probably Di-Electric Maybe ?

- Sorry if i forgot a Detail or Step in the evaluation , I have Never Done this VIDEO thing Before :grinpimp:

holding the Digital SLR Nikon in one hand made for a Shaky Image , but its pretty clear until i get Obsessed with the Word
JAPAN

on the top of the filter Box

- I was VERY surprised ALL 3 of his TOYOTA Brand Filters seamed Very Cheap and low Budget Construction compared to the DENSO

and the final winner
