About 3 months ago I filled my tank. Driving home the cruiser quit running as if out of fuel. Would start, run about a minute then quit. Took a bit to limp it home. Next morning noticed gas dripping by filler neck. Found the small hose on the filler neck was leaking. Replaced it, leaking stopped. Cruiser has been in garage since ,getting other work. Decided to siphon some of the gas out to use elsewhere since it was 3 months old. Opened the gas cap and at least 1/2 gallon of gas came bubbling out. Like it was under pressure. I know the temperature has gone up since the fill up, but didn't think I filled it that full. While siphoning the gas out I could hear bubbling in the tank, like it was struggling to get enough air into the system. Any thoughts on a cause for this? If the charcoal canister were blocked, could this cause the problem? Thought the fuel pump had gone out as a cause for it to quit running. Now I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm thinking you have a vent problem. I'd start at one end and go through the whole thing. Replace the can and work back. Look for the one way valve inline and replace or at least check it.

Drain the tank. Use compressed air to clear all the lines. It's a simple system. You have clog somewhere.

I took the sending unit off mine and stuck my shop vac in the hole reversed on blow and blew out all my lines from the tank out.

Haven't tried yet. Thinking of trying with a can of gas and an electric fuel pump. My son's 40 and my '72 only have one line out. Not a complicated system.

Pulled the charcoal canister and filter after seperator in back. Both moved air by just blowing on them by mouth. Even after drainig over 1/2 tank it still had pressure this morning.

Noticed the charcoal canister was hooked up to the "computer" which isn't hooked up to anything. Thinking of hooking charcoal canister to the intake manifold which would allow things to vent. Does this sound reasonable? All other lines seem tobe open. With one way valve removed in cargo area there's no build up of pressure.

The one way valve was open. I think I will try the hose to the manifold.
