Thanks for the info JohnnyC. Trying to hook up with Mark to get the radio, then may have it converted to a" modern" radio on the inside. What side of the truck would the antenna have been installed on? I have seen them installed on both sides:hhmm:. Maybe someone has a copy of Toyota installation instructions for the accessory radio? Brendon

UPDATE!!! I have pulled the camera out from it's super-secure location! The part number on the radio is: 11000-00980.

The radio still has the factory bolts on it [slotted head] that anchored it to the under dash mounting brackets, but the brackets are awol.:frown:

Here are a couple of pics:

The antenna and the speaker. I frankly don't remember which side the antenna was mounted on, but I do remember the speaker was mounted under the glovebox, diagonally.

Sweet! Thanks for the pictures, very cool. Who needs an iPod when you can have retro hi-fi AM stereo:grinpimp:. Now if you only have the original OEM installation instructions:hhmm:.

Here are a couple of shots of a factory setup off of a 71 FJ, or at least thats what I've got it tagged as in my computer. Not sure when or if I even took this picture, but I've been taking pictures of BJ/FJ 40s 50s and 70s all over Japan for about 10 years now. And yes I've got alot of pictures, so if you need a picture of something PM me and ask.

Again, this is a RHD 40, things were and still are done a little different over here. Man I don't remember taking this picture, I must be getting old!

Thanks JohnnyC. My wife sent me a photo from the book from her iphone. Not a great picture, but it may show enough to get the idea.
Anybody have a bracket(s) to mount this radio like in this picture in post #19:hhmm:?

Got the sweet radio, thanks Mark! Would love to find the missing knob as pictured in post #22 if anyone has one, along with installation instructions. JohnnyC, might you have these in your Toyota history collection? Thanks for any info.:steer: Brendon

My '71 had a factory radio mounted under the steering column. Sadly it was stolen somewhere in the 30 years the truck was sitting before I bought it.

It looks like a dealer install, like the warn winch.
