I guess everyone has been watching the news about the flooding in Louisiana. The area hardest hit seems to be the Watson area in Livingston Parish which is where my mother, sister, and a number of friends live. Looks like my mother, sister, brother and a nearby aunt were spared but an uncle, cousin, and many other friends were not so fortunate. I'd like to ask that you keep these folks in your thoughts over the next weeks and months as they work to put their lives back together. We are going down this weekend with a few supplies and to try to offer a little help where we can. Can't imagine how hard this would be to deal with.

Grandmothers house flooded three times before she passed. Each time worse than the last. The third time the only thing we could save was the stud walls and the roof. Completely rebuilt the house from there. Yep, this is no overnight fix. Some of these folks will never recover. We were the lucky ones for sure.

sorry to hear about the impacts to your family. My wife's sister and her husband got hit pretty bad. As of a couple of hours ago, they could still only get to their house by boat. 3 little girls. Tough deal.

Where are they? If the water goes down by the weekend maybe I could help? Do they need anything?

keep us updated guys.

My immediate folks are ok but many in the community lost everything. The church I grew up in is coordinating cleanup crews now and other disaster response. Let me know if it sounds helpful to point your families in that direction.

Praying now Fireman for Doc and speedy recovery.

Thanks @Bossman. They are in ascension parish near gonzales/prairieville. His work (hes a chem e with shell refinery in new orleans) is sending out some crews to help demo (i think today if they can get in). They have flood insurance and lots of family in br, so despite how bad this sucks, there are others who will have a tougher road (short and long term). I may drive down as well this weekend.

thanks for sharing that @pmccraney

lots i didnt know...lots to think about.....

my mom almost died from west nile about 4-5 years ago as well.....she's still suffering from side effects....

i can also relate to being a more devoted and calm person...i have laid off a lot of my ferocity in the kitchen and changed my approach.........in my quest to be a better person to the people i employ and help them and guide them....it's worked......

Helen didn't make it guys.

This is going to be a big blow to all the folks at 49 Tire.

Helen was family to all.

Keep all of them in your prayers.

I ask the BOD to go big to help her family if possible. She will be missed.

Chris will post up details for those of us that want to send something direct as well.

Thanks guys.
Helen and I went to work about the same time for my Dad. She has been here with me for 20 years.
I ask that you remember her family. She truly was the glue that held them together.
Also remember these guys at work, to most she was like a momma to them.

Gonna be a very long couple of days.
