Alright have been in the garage again. My brother who is a coach builder (truck bodies) scored me some panel steel and put a bend in it for me..
So its been offered up, trimmed and holes drilled for mig spot welding.
Idea is to tack it up, grind down the edges square / flush then seam weld around it.
later I will cut the hole for the rear window.

New photo's for consumption.
Have finished the final trim out and cut out the rear window. Seam sealed the inside and painted. Ready to make pattern for glass man to make new rear window.
Also played with my new gauges and modded the Warn XD9000i which is gong in the rear. It did have that integrated solenoid pack on top. Well I have cut it off.... And using different solenoid pack.
Next will be prime and bog the outside.

ok for those that are following this thread.
Finally got my glass cut for the rear window. I am using 4mm toughened glass. Didnt want to go laminated as its thick and heavy. And this window shouldn't see and trail damage... Here's hoping.
I made a thin template from veneer for the glass man. And used the same template to cut the hole about 10mm larger.
The seal I used was a bit old... Donated to the project. So I used the template and taped it in place to cut and join the ends with adhesive and also threw it in the oven at work for and hour or so at 80C. This softened it up and when it cooled the tight corners were pre formed.
Fitting the glass was pretty straight forward but inserting the weather strip locking bit... Man what a mission. I would get to the last corner and it would pop out of the track.... grrrr. after many attempts I got it... yah....
So the playdoh is now weather tight and secure which means I can park it up outside now overnight while I work on the chassis.

Just found this thread, its a sweet truck, I love 70's, there are a lot of them here but they are usually rusted out. I used 70 axle's under my 40...your work looks great!

Here are some shots I took the other week...
The rear is a little high :D but will settle down when I start adding the bar work, rear winch and custom fuel tank...
