1986 FJ60, Low pressure/return side... what size/kind of hose is correct? I can buy from Toyota if it is something proprietary.

Mark

Toyota part numbers:
90445-18085
90445-18089

Anyone know if these are standard hose? Special for Dexron? Special for Toyota? Metric?

When I was going to replace mine I was able to get a standard hose from NAPA. Think it was 3/8" ID and nothing special I believe.

Partial hijack, I have a leak on my high pressure hose. I bought a new one from napa. Looks to be correct. Any hints, cheats or tips? Do I need to remove the radiator or can I worm it in there under it? Thanks in advance.

I don't know if you can get it under there.. let us know. Curious though, what did it cost at Napa? I would have thought that that was a pretty hard to find part at someplace other than Toyota....

Brake hose...? Fuel hose...?

I bought this hose (low pressure return line) and installed in on my OEM PS pump (12/1981 FJ60):

NAPA part# NPS 71213 $16.49

NAPA has it listed as a direct replacement low pressure PS return hose. Don't have the dimensions, but it fit perfectly and it is long enough, when cut in half, for two replacement hoses for the same length of hose I removed.

You should be able to get the dimensions online if you run the part number at the NAPA site.

From Napa it is power steering hose. I just replaced mine, cut to length and hose clamp 'em on. I'll get some pics this morning when it is light out. I also got the high pressure hose from napa so will post that as well.

This is what napa shows...
And the cut to fit

high pressure hose from NAPA $31.49 plus Shipping and Handling

Discount $122 from a Toyota source...

Looks like NAPA is selling a better hose than the one I bought 5 years ago .. I also used the cut to fit trans/power steering line.

If you're replacing yours, now is the time to put a tranny microfilter in the return line. And use a synthetic Dextron fluid.

Any indication that this filter will reduce flow (BEFORE it gets clogged) or cause more problems than it solves?

Your filter looks better than the Cardone...

The return line is relatively common, from most parts stores, 3/8" TOC (transmission oil cooler) hose. Don't want fuel, water, etc, hose, the oil will affect it, making it soft, fail in a relatively short time.

You reminded me I didn't post the size I got. 3/8" here as well.
Edit: Sorry Greg the pic of your 3/8 came up after I posted.

it was like 70.00 with freight, I haven't installed it yet but I pulled it out the box and it looks identical, rubber and steel in all the right places etc, looks ok, They ordered it from the manufacturer they said.
I'll let you know how it goes
