I'm getting ready to replace my PS hoses. I have a new Gates high pressure hose from Rock Auto, and I want to know what brand, length and dimension low pressure hose do you recommend. I plan to buy it locally at NAPA or O'Reilly's. Thanks in advance.
it's a 5/8" hose and needs to be compatible with petroleum products. I get it from the dealer, but if you insist on buying at an auto parts store then low pressure fuel hose is probably your best bet unless you can find oil cooler hose in that size.
I purchased 3 ft sections of 3/8" and 5/8" power steering return hose. It was about $20 total for the Edelmann branded hose, but Gates might be easier to find locally. You're looking for SAE J189 (standard duty) or SAE J2076 (hi-temp) power steering return hose. You should be able to find something locally. Good luck!
Get that Gates from RockAuto.com and run it till failure like most do with the Original.
Not mad, but this topic has been discussed excessively on here.
IIRC, it's ~28" of 3/8" and just under a foot of 5/8". It's most commonly called TOC, transmission oil cooler hose, if fuel or coolant hose is used it's life will be brief.
Call Napa or Oreillys and ask them if they have Bulk 5/8 Gates Oil hose and get 2 clamps while your at it.
I would do the PCV hose whilst messing around.
Get a Qt of Synthetic Transmission Fluid to put in Power Steering, it is what it calls for.
These are the 3 hoses you should need if you want to get Toyota hoses other than the high pressure hose you already got. I did the same thing you did with the rockauto high pressure hose. The 3 parts numbers are for the PS cooler to the reservoir, reservoir to the PS pump and the cooler to the steering box. They are about $33 a piece.

whats the product number for the high pressure hose you bought? I need to do the same thing. I got my low pressure lines from gates, I went with their green strip hose.
