I wanted to close the loop on this thread. The impact zipped the stuck nut right off. I installed a new terminal.
This was an exact replacement for the one on my 2002 LC. Once I removed it I could see the new terminal assembly did indeed have the plastic piece. You can see here the size difference.
The old terminal is cranked just about all the way closed without the plastic spacer and it is still larger than the new one with the spacer installed.
I buttoned it all back up, installed a new battery and used some white lithium grease on the terminals.
Bottom line is terminals stretch and will not hold the posts tight. Replace the terminals to solve the problem and you may need an impact to separate the terminal from the fuse block connector.
