There seem to be several. Would be great to meet some of the other cruiser owners in town. I know about Cascade Cruisers, but they seem pretty inactive?

This thread can become a digital roll call, if people see fit. Or it could be where we discuss logistics re: finding a suitable physical location to meet, shoot the s*** and have a beer somewhere. Or both. I'll leave that up to you. :slap:

Anyway, I'm Zac. I live in the St John's neighborhood in North Portland. I have a turbo'd 84 BJ60 named Giles with almost 600k KM on the dial. Currently at LCNW getting roadworthy . I have a tiny, narrow driveway at a steep incline, so nowhere really to work on Giles at home. However, smaller, doable-in-a-day projects can be done on the street, usually. Looking forward to taking Giles out exploring around the PNW after watching him sit all winter.

:steer:

Mods: If you hate this and think it should live somewhere else, I defer to your authority and superior judgment.

Do you happen to park your cruiser a near N Seneca? If so, I admire it every time I head out to Pier to play disc golf.

I got my FJ62 about a year ago and have been amazed by how many 60 series I see around town. I'm definitely interested in doing a 60 series beer and greet sort of thing. Let's get it going!

Hell ya! Count me in.
I'm in Camas and I'd love to hang with some fellow 60/62 Mudders. I have an '89 FJ62 that is pretty much stock for the mean time. My next project is an OME setup. It's nice to hear someone else mention LCNW. That's where I take my rig for stuff I can't or don't feel like doing myself. I think they're great folks.

Anyhow keep me in the loop!

Hey @lechnito, yep, that's me! Hopefully you'll see it move around more frequently once it comes back from LCNW. I see a bunch of 60's around town and see a lot of "Portland, OR" in people's location here on Mud, too. I'm certainly not the most active member on Mud, but I'm definitely very interested in meeting some folks in the area with similar interests.

@sbelinge The guys at LCNW saved my ass when a neighbor had called in my truck as abandoned. Came over to my house on a weekend and help me put a knuckle back together. Might not even have my cruiser still if it weren't for them. They definitely earned me as a customer that day, and I'm hugely grateful for their help. Left them a bottle of nice mezcal when I dropped the truck off last week, as a 'thank you'. Hope they enjoy it as much as I'm going to enjoy being able to go for a ride with Giles again!

My initial thought for a meet-up was a bar with a big patio, like Apex in Southeast Portland. Then I got to thinking, it would be really nice to have a place we can all park together and talk shop while not being cordoned off by the "No alcohol past this point" fence. With that in mind, maybe reserving an area at one of the many gorgeous parks we've got around town might make sense? I guess it all depends on how many people are interested, and can make time. Under maybe a dozen and a bar with a nice patio is still probably a pretty good idea. Much more than that and I think we'd want to consider something else. I'd vote Cathedral park, as there's a big central parking lot right near the areas that can be reserved. Also, there are far uglier places to hang out than under the St John's bridge. However, living no more than 1/2 mile from there, I may be biased. :D
Looking forward to hearing others' thoughts and opinions as well! :worms:

I'm up in Cully, I'd be down for something. 83' FJ60, poorly painted with a "Honk If You Love Cheese" sticker. Let me know, mid week would be great for me.

Vancouver WA.
1990 FJ62. White. Stock. Latest upgrade was a pair of Fiamm horns. Now it sounds like a 70's horn instead of the squeaky Toyota horns.
Soon, a pair of beautiful welded bumpers from reevesci as soon as I get them back from the powder coaters in Portland.
I did have question for the Portland area Cruisers...anyone have any experience with Willamette Blvd Service Center? Cruiser specialists...

@unfortunately: Small world! I think I saw you a few weeks ago standing next to your cruiser with the hood up talking to someone on a cell phone. I almost pulled over to ask if you needed a hand, but I had somewhere to be. Sorry your neighbor was a tool :(

Cathedral Park is cool with me but I've heard that getting day use reservations can be hard. Apparently, it's a popular place to host marriage ceremonies. There lots of other decent parks around town, not to mention glorious forest roads to the east and west.

When do you expect to get Giles back?

@LrgMarge @bigdaddychud @MiyamotoMusashi @lechnito Cool! I imagine finding a place and time that works for everyone will be tough, but I'll start looking at park reservations in a few parts of town for maybe 3-4 weeks out? I don't actually have any clue what it costs to reserve an area at a park, but I can't imagine it being outrageous. I'll look for something with a covered area, because PNW. I'm certainly interested in hearing suggestions if anybody knows of a spot that would be great.

@MiyamotoMusashi The guys at the Cruiser shop on Willamette sold me a door that I have yet to install (got hit & run like 3 weeks after bringing Giles home from Canada ), but they gave me a good price. The first time I went in to pick it up, they had forgotten to bring it in, but a couple days later had it. Super nice guys. Very busy, it seems. They're less than a mile from my house, but after having my ass saved by the guys from LCNW when my 60 was about to get towed, they're my go-to shop. Really want to see those bumpers from @reevesci ! Where'd you take them for powder coating?

@lechnito Yeah, that was me! I was out messing with the headlights, and putting back the batteries which had died due to a phantom draw somewhere, all while catching up with my dad on the cell phone. Also just letting the truck run for a bit since it had been quite a while. I can imagine getting a spot at Cathedral Park being tough, now that you mention it. I walk my dog there a lot and nearly 100% of the time there are wedding photos being taken. I called LCNW yesterday to ask them to remove a stripped bolt that I haven't been able to get out, and had forgotten to tell them about earlier. I didn't ask, but it didn't seem like they had started any work on Giles. I was hoping for end of this week, but next week sometime is looking more likely. Hopefully not any later than that, but who knows. For now, it's not my daily driver, but I'm thinking it will be pretty soon.

My neighbor and I both have SOA FJ62's and both are white, so some people get us confused until they hear one is a 4BT and another is a Vortec;)
There was talk sometime ago with another pal about starting a small informal 60 family friendly club. Seems there are enough of us. Maybe worth looking into. We are in Milwaukie. Certainly open to a meet and greet. Always nice to have some wagon caravans for cruiser trips.

Hey guys, I'm in Lake O. area and would love to meet up, talk shop and hang with good people. Let me know and I'm there. I look forward to meeting other Cruiser-Heads. Have a good one and enjoy the day.

Hi All-

I'm in Portland and am interested in a meet-up.

Not to bust in but here's a suggestion. How about a Saturday late-morning meet and greet at the world headquarters of Willamette Blvd Auto - 6845 N Willamette Blvd - North Portland. We could take a look at Josh's (mechanic) latest project which is a 1HDT diesel conversion. We could look around the shop a bit.....it's ALL things landcruiser. From there we could tool down to "Fix'n Too" in St. Johns for a burger and a beer. Anyone that wanted to do more could take it from there.

I have no affiliation with Willamette Blvd other than they have been my only mechanic for the last 15 years. I do think that they would have a lot of interesting things for a landcruiser enthusiast to see.

If you're game I can suggest a date/time.

Hey Umpqua. I just called Willamette Blvd and spoke to Josh about bringing my LC for him to have a look at. Next available opening was July 18th!
I took it!

On a different note, I just dropped off my LC at Larry Morton's Transmission in Oregon City. Sharp guy. Comes highly recommended.

Yeah, I think that Josh has been "discovered." I try to stay ahead of him with routine maintenance. I pretty much book the next appointment when I pick up one of the two 'cruisers that he "owns." I say own because a lot of times I feel like I'm just driving them if that makes any sense.

I'm pretty high on this guy....he's the real deal. Plus his dad is a kick.

Unfortunately, I didn't intend to hijack the thread so I'll step away. Let me know if you guys want to meet. It would be a good outing.

Would love to meet, but need somewhere more teenager friendly as my 16 year old is the owner of our cruiser and I really want him involved, sorry if that is a buzzkill.

@unfortunately oh no! What's the bad news?

I am in the middle of replacing my alternator with a mean green and servicing my throttle body, throttle sensor, egr valve so my rig is down until next weekend.
