so it looks like Angelo1 has made up his mind but I would like to keep the conversation going. I have a '17 LX. Has the stock 21's on it. I understand I can't go with '17's because of the brake caliper and am looking for recommendations on 18's that don't push the tires out too much more than my stock 8.5/54mm wheels. I already think I am going with the Cooper AT3 LTX in 275/70/18. BTW I live in the FL panhandle and camp mostly in Georgia/the Carolinas but we are getting ready to do our second big trip out west in the last 18 months. The last one was in a JKURR.
You CAN go with some 17s, you just need to be sure they fit first. The ever-popular TRD rock warriors do (yet another reason they are so common here), and I’ve heard icon’s 17s fit as well.
17s also have the option of running a P-metric 285/70/17 if road manners, mileage, and ride quality rank highly in your priority list, while still looking for an AT tire.
Other brands would require research here or elsewhere.
I have been looking at the RW but can't get a decent deal. I would have the them Powder Coated Black. Interesting to know that the Icon 17's fit. Which P-Metric tire that is an AT would you recommend? I’ve always used E rated tires and honestly never thought I could use a P tire, granted I do tow but nothing over 5k

Same same?The solution to the current set up is slee’s kdss relocation bracket and move the swaybar end links to the outside of their carrier, backfill the carrier with a solid spacer and get a longer bolt. Get an alignment and enjoy your truck. The kdss relo bracket will move your current tire conact point 1/2” forward allowing clearance. You Move the swaybar end links to the outside Of their carrier to line them up with the swaybars new location / that moved forward 1/2” or do nothing and let them bend to form. Or go the route of purchasing smaller tires. Or a different profile tire. The BFGs swell out in the side wall. A nitto is more squared in profile. Tire profile Plays its part as much as wheel offset and alignment when going bigger in tire size. if you like the appearance of a larger tire theres ways to accomplish it. You may have to submit to the “common” rock warrior wheels but accomplish standing out by having bigger tires than the other 200’s around your area. Also look for threads about the pedal Commander to address the perceived lack of gearing / throttle response.

I do like those Evo Corse.Evo corse has 17 and 18 in the appropriate offset range. Or you can get stock tlc or tundra 18s and run narrow spacers like a 1” or .75”

I think the truck will react a little better with a light wheel and a slightly smaller tire 285-75/17 vs 35/12.50/18(34.5”) and should be able to increase my fuel range a bit. Unless I’m off my rocker and none of this change will not make much difference. Thoughts?

Yep..just more of them to choose from in the used market! I was confused because of the KDSS references and the fact that my old mind had already forgotten that I had bogarted another persons post.Semantics, but a LX570 is a 200.
Nope...AHC is my cross. But I think I like it. Won't get me everywhere my JKURR would but it will get me everywhere I will actually go.@livebetter36 but you do not have the KDSS issue that WillyBeamin mentioned

My tire squeezing into my KDSS and sway bar link. Isn’t this a bad thing? Also, if I get a flat and my back is loaded with luggage, where the heck am I going to put my 100lbs tire/wheel combo because it won’t tint in the spare location.What's the issue you're trying to solve? Can you isolate what it is about drivability that you're not satisfied with?
Don't read too much into weight. There's a disproportionate concern on these boards about it lately. It's much more the gearing that you're feeling rather than weight. More specifically for the 8-speed as it has plenty of physical gearing, it's likely the transmission tuning and shift points that aren't working great. This can be partially solved by leaving it in power ECT mode to make the shift points more aggressive.
Yes, you'll make it incrementally better by going from a 34.5" tire to a 33.7". Reduce the wheel offset situation you currently have, and it will also drive and feel better.
