Enjoying watching your project Pistorman. I'm on the other side of Houston but maybe someday we can get a bunch Houston 40s together so we can see yours in person and be even more jealous. I have a May '70 40 with original spring green body and 3FE/H55. I'd like to see how your window tinting looks once installed. And what is that pretty red hatch looking thing you just got back from powder coating? My 40 doesn't have one. Is that the mysterious gas tank evap cover thingy?

Hey Pancho,

The red thing is actually a tank you can see how it looks like when it was found when the quarter panels where being changed in prior photos. The car is still in Dallas, and I am looking forward to it being ready for Summer. When its finally there I'll bring it down to Houston from The Woodlands (big trip haha). Thanks!

Engine rebuild shop called me, the camshaft needs reground or a new one. They say this one will work but that it will grind lifters and maybe be inefficient as to horse power. What do you guys recommend? Take it to a machining specialized in engine parts? Buy the Man A Free RC Camshafy kit?

I was driving around the big D to get new cleets for my road bike shoes somehow I drove through a street in a "Lovely" part of town and I saw a house with a few treasures, being this one one of them.

Sorry, but I need to know what type of grommet goes in the speedo cable firewall opening. Anyone know which one goes there? I can't seem to find the correct one in SOR.com TIA

Also, what goes in the first lower firewall hole? (the one next to the brake booster/master setup opening.)

Parking brake cable and mount?

The overall look is great, some tough issues in fitting the hardtop, hopefully it will just give when bolted.

I'm also having the steering box rebuilt, I hated it leaked oil everywhere and we found the culprit issue. It had been banged up from one side breaking the seal.

I also installed the powder coated blower though I suspect the electric motor is going to need some work to run.

Installing a new CCOT rear rubber mat with underlayment (screwed on with the rear heater, not glued on).

I like how the "new" stays work :)

looking really good!! i'm going to be using this build for pics to build my truck.

yes that lower hole is for the parking brake cable - where did you get the grommets for the electrical holes? - you have three of them and they look pretty solid.

All from SOR.com. Thank you. I'll try to post as many pictures as possible.

The rubber mat and thermal underlayment from CCOT seem sharp :) They secure with the rear heater bolts.
