It has been off the road for a while, about six months or so

.
The Toyota remanufactured CV axles ended up being the cause. While on a trip out of town, the inside passenger side joint snapped. This caused it to come out passed the snap ring, spitting diff fluid out and causing me to loose forward momentum. AAA came to the rescue and the wife and I rented a car to get home.
A week or so later we moved, lost the key and parked it ever since. As I pondered the breakdown, I came to the conclusion (without any close inspection) that my front diff must have parted ways with itself. Juggling life and all the previous work caused me to ignore it with no motivation and a slight bitterness towards the LC.
After some prodding from the wife, I ordered a new OEM master key and sent it and the ECU to
@Mauser. Thanks again!!! Once I had the key and the ECU back, I locked the center diff and loaded it up and took it to Precision Auto and Diesel in Ruidoso, the new owner is a good friend of my mother and he’s a good guy. He checked the fluids, replaced the axle with a Napa sourced axle and confirmed no damage to the differential.
As I write this out it reminded me to call Casa Toyota in Alamogordo to get a replacement on order and keep the Napa unit as a spare. The parts guy told me, Toyota discontinued the remanufactured CVs for the 100 series, tells me he can’t order one. I ask about a refund, he says probably not because they are discontinued. I say, was it under warranty when I bought it? He says yes, but it’s discontinued…..I got a sense the he didn’t give a rip and was telling me to pound sand. Not cool. I asked to speak to his boss, he comes back shortly after and says the refund was approved.
Anyways, it’s back up and running. I guess I’ll be looking to order OEM new CVs sometime this year. What a burn that Toyota would put out such a poor, inferior product, at least they wised up and discontinued them.
