Off today, so gettting around to post pics I've been meaning to do.

First requiste pic is the beast rolling 200K. I was on the way home from picking up a new to me trailer (those pics are next). It happened on the 101 southbound in Ventura. ...and no, I didn't have 420 miles on a nearly full tank of gas either. :flipoff2: I was tracking the round trip from home to Paso Robles and back.

Some of you paying close enough attention may know, but I picked up a Canadian M101 on December 5th. Bought it from a fellow mudder I've know for a few years - Desertdude. He'd actually purchased a couple of them, completed the work on his and had started on this one. Work complete includes a spring over axle, Toyota 6 lug hubs, extended reinforced tongue, lock n roll coupler, 80 series cruiser rims with 35" tires as well as a rattle can paint job on the frame and outer box. The Canadian M101's were built in 1992 and there were only 2000 made, so they are in much better shape body wise, rust wise, etc. than their American brethern, the M416.

Mods will go slowly, but immediate needs include a lid first and a tailgate cut into the rear second. We'll see where I go from there, Long term will include jerry can carriers on the front sides (no room on the rear of the fender flares), either a nose box for a battery and shore power and or more jerry can carriers and eventually a paint job to match the cruiser. Part of the deal for the trailer included two nearly new Scepter water cans, so I've got those and two Wedco non-carb jerry cans for gas. I'd rather put those on the trailer than the INTI rack. Those of you that have hoisted 5 gallons of liquid in a jerry can onto a rack on the top of your cruiser will understand!

Enough yacking - here are two pics of her tucked away in my messy garage!

Last but not the least is second drawer I completed putting Urethane on this morning. It's a smaller copy job of my existing drawer. The drawer is 4" deep and will be used for tools, recovery gear, etc. and will go under the existing fridge. I designed it lower than the other drawer so I'll still be able to get into the fridge w/o sliding it out (hopefully!). I designed it after Jeff Kaufman's (slo60) drawer. The 'slide' is simple HDPE that slides in routered grooves on the bottom of the drawer. No wasted space for drawer slides on the sides. Jeff's design is nothing short of brilliant IMHO and I give him all the credit for this design. While I can't come close to his craftsmanship, I think it turned out damn well for an amateur using a simple table saw and router if I may be so bold. Drawer and box are doweled and glued together. I borrowed an air stapler from a neighbor and tacked down the edges as well for a little more stability as well. The entire thing is built out of 3/4" birch and red oak plywood my BIL had left over from some of his projects and he just wanted it out of his garage. This project cost me nothing but a time and effort as well as quality time with my 86 yr old FIL who is more brilliant to this day than I ever will be and he loves being busy with project lile this. We started when they were here for Thanksgiving. I've got to let the Urethane cure for a few days in this cooler weather we've been having so I don't stink up the cruiser to badly. Installed pics will have to come later. I'm having trouble finding a paddle latch to match the existing drawer that's small enough for a 4" high drawer, so for now the tailgate closed will hold the new drawer closed.

On with the pics:

Cool trailer Brent. Congrats!

looks like your R gear is lit. you were doing 60mph, in reverse while taking a pic? you crazy!

nice score on the M101! does DD have a build thread on the extended tongue & fenders? i dont recall seeing one. maybe on expo? you'll have fun with that lil trailer...more stuff to bring! lid & gate are definite must haves IMO.

Nice, I rolled 100k on the 101 just north of Santa Barbara around 14 months ago. Funny, going almost the exact same speed...must be cruiser speed

Cool drawers and trailer too. Both things on the wish list right now.

VERY nice trailer Brent! That is exactly what I want to get after all the mods are done to the cruiser.

Great job on the drawer.

I can't believe you:

- didn't stop by for a
- didn't tell me first about that trailer so I could get it myself...

sheesh...

:)

would never ignore you of course, but -unlike some of the geeky persuasion- I am not carrying an HT with an ear bud all the time at work... :)

but I see you ignored my reminder that any military style trailer on the Central Coast has my name on it and no whippersnapper from OC should even think about coming on my territory without asking first... :D

hehehe - you snooze you loose dude. :flipoff2: Ad was up on this board for several weeks.

...and my aging brain must have forgoten about your 'reminder', besides you already have a huge trailer...not fit for tight trails. :whoops:

oh, it'll go on any tight trail no problem....

it's coming back out that might be an issue

You have fun with the new toy now, you hear! Enjoy! :) I wanna see a lot of drawers on that baby!

and eventually a paint job to match the cruiser.

Brent nice score! Now paint the cruiser to match the trailer. Don't be JAFW80. Especially JAFWOC80!

:flipoff2:,

Very cool Brent, I saw the thread where I thought to got it. Didn’t want to say anything until you did. Nice score, I look forward to the seeing the build on here.

Also great job on the second drawler, you got skills!
