what the advantage of having the 17" wheels on the TLC? If I get these bigger wheels do I need to get a lift kit or wheel spacers?

uhsteck--

no real advantage other than more tire choices

dont need a lift, dont have to run spacers but should to return to stock track width

In my case, the tires are ~$70 ea cheaper in 17". The need for lift, spacers, etc, will be determined by tire size.

I know this is an old thread, but when I had 'mud searched and google searched for photos of a 80 series with white FJ cruiser steelies, I never got any results. Surprise right? I really like the look, but recognize it is not for everyone. It has kind of a UN or Safari look. I have an OME medium lift, and my tires are ~33" BFGs, and 1.5" wheel spacers. I also used black wheel-centric lug nuts which pop a little bit. Weird thing is I used the same tires which used to be on my FJ 8 Hole wheels, but with the Steelies, they now look tiny. Would probably look perfect with 35s.

I think those steelies look GREAT! If you could post another pic of the side....looking straight at the rig I would really appreciate it.

Sure, this is probably the best side angle I have. The wheels I bought did not come with the round metal FJ Cruiser center caps, which I am slowly on the hunt for. With the spacers, they would have zero issue clearing the front hubs.

It is.

Cooper STT, 37 x 12.50.

It has 1.25", if I were to do it again, would go 1".

Looks great!!! But way bigger than i want to go. I want to be about 34" tire about 2" lift and stick with stock gears. I will probably just stick with 285/75/16 but would like just a little bigger.

... stick with stock gears. ...

Mine has stock gears, bought 5.29, once I learned to drive it, never installed them. Does have Marlin t-case gears.
