Just wondering if anyone out there can help out with one of the last remaining puzzle pieces for my 79 build..I'm in need of a pic of a LHD automatic shifter lever/bezel/console. I have a RHD pic but not a LHD. Obviously this would be behind a 1FZ motor...but maybe a 3F would have had a similar setup.

I could use my 80 series donor assembly, maybe a 100 series shifter(different shifter plate) or maybe even a 62 series(very old school). I have a RHD console that I could cut apart(shifter opening on the console is closer to the driver on the RHD...a bit of a reach for a LHD).

Parts guy can't find a diagram showing a plastic console for it. Of course if I had a FZJ7X VIN with an auto, I could find what I need....

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It may be that there were no LHD autos out there....maybe just RHD. Not sure....a pic or VIN sure would help.

As far as I know only the mwb and wagons come in autos maybe the swb but the ute and troopys never did due to the front fuel tank being in the way or maybe they are to much of a commercial vehicle to receive just one luxury option. Afaik there were no petrol wagons.
79 series floor pan is a different shape to the mwb and wagon so perfect fit of a auto console maybe slightly off, or though I did come across a pic of a hdj78 with a hzj77 auto shifter and console in it and it looked normal from the pic not sure what mods were done to get the auto fitted.
That's just rhd cruisers
So for lhd it might be even harder to find a shifter console and setup

Thanks for the info.....it's going to be tough to find. I've tried to search every model out there. Just hoping there was one odd-ball that somebody ran across.

I've got a 62 series auto assembly and the 80s. I figure I can make those work. One of the issues is that the 80 series hits the lower dash when mounted close to where it would need to be. Hoping the simpler and smaller 62 will be easier to fit....will it clear the dash will be the question. Obviously we can cut it down.

My guess is, after the long road I've traveled with this thing, that the shifter may be one of them more challenging parts. We'll see....

The 80 series shifter and console would look much better and more oem for the age of your truck, the 60 shifter should be left in the 60 series.

I know....that's my dilemma....the 60s series shifter looks goofy. The 80s looks better but it physically is just too big to work. I would guess we'll come up with a combo of all of them. I'm going to try and track down a 100 series shift plate too....that one looks the most promising as the display is very flat...both the 62 and the 80 have arched ones.

I have a console for an RHD 70 series....I think we can use that as a base to work around. We will come up with something...
