Samco only comes in 1 meter lengths straight... but it does come in black... do you think it could be done with only 3 ft?
Send me an e-mail to brett.l.fischer@gmail.com for refund on the short hose if anyone wants to do this instead. I am running out of hose about every 2 weeks now...
Also just a note... I have bought a lot of the Silicone that is cheaper than the Samco to compare and find something that is similar but at a lower cost, and I have found you get what you pay for... pay attention to specs they claim. There is a very subtle difference... the cheaper silicone manufacturers claim "manufactured in accordance with ISO xxx" or whatever standard... it basically means they set up their manufacturing in theory to attain the standards, yet never check or actually get the cert... my father-in-law is one of the founding fathers of ISO and told me that this is a trick a lot of manufacturers use to fool people into thinking they have high standards... it doesn't mean squat if you don't actually test to those standards after the fact and get the certs... big difference.
Don't know if the difference would mean a failing hose on a Land Cruiser or not, but I didn't want to invest my time installing something that I saved a $5 on only to cost me something greater down the road (or while on the road). I was planning on doing a new web site in my spare time (yeah right...) I have cut cross sections of several silicone hoses advertised on the web and some other types of hose (Good Year high mileage hose)... In the pic, you can see the nylon re-enforcements they put into the hose... Samco, at the top has 2-3 layers of it with High temp silicone vulcanized silcone encasing it without any vacuum gaps that is very flexible in the 60mm length of the PHH the outer layer looks like 2 closely piled nylon sleeve re-enforcements with a 3rd inner layer ... other Silicone hoses had no re-enforcement and were a lot stiffer in 60mm lengths than the Samco and didn't have nearly the amount of nylon re-enforcement... also, the way they manufacture it to look like the good stuff, actually creates a gap between the inner and outer layers of the hose... you can also tell that the cheaper brands use a lot less density of the nylon sleeve for the re-enforcement, when they do use it. The lower left side is the nicest non-Samco silicone sample hose I bough, the middle is Gates and the right is the Goodyear. The higher quality rubber hoses were robust, but were way stiffer than the silicone stuff and would be a lot harder to wiggle onto the nipple... the Goodyear hose was close to the Gate Green Stripe, but I thought the Gates was still better in terms of construction and flexibility.
