forgot one other thing....take some mosquito repellent. they are vicious at machu pichu....nasty little buggers...
also, don't worry about the river rafting action pics, the guides will set up take some cool action pics then sell you them on a cd for a few bucks.....

BlueTribal, hopefully they have one of those available for you to rent. I think I saw some 70 series troopies in the pics too. Might check on that.

I wish I wasn't leaving this Friday, BECAUSE the Passport agency is making me sweat! No passport yet! 
I have heard from a couple people that they are getting them to people literally days before they are needed. Mine is expected to make it Wed or Thursday, and I am unable to make an appointment in LA unless there is a cancellation. THIS SUCKS and man yet another government agency that is broken. 
Well as of this Sunday they were expediting my passport in Charleston NC, and as of this morning it had been expedited and they should complete it today. I will be up again tomorrow at 4:00 AM calling to get through to verify that it has been completed.
Anyways I am just posting this to vent I guess and to warn you all to get you passport going at least 6 mo in advance cuz' 3 mo isn't enough.

Aren't they allowing you to use a receipt of purchase for a passport, or some such thing, to allow people to travel? Thought I heard that on the news.

Well, I spent 12 hrs at the Federal Bldg in LA last Thursday and got my passport!
Receipts are supposed to be good enough for Mexico and Bahamas but a lady was in line with me because she called the consulate in the Bahamas and they said they didn't care what the US news said that you need a passport. So who knows?
Birth certificates are not good enough. But I do suggest everyone get a second certified copy of there birth certificate. Because to get a passport you need to send off your birth certificate with the application. Then when you need to go to the federal bldg like I did you need a birth certificate to re-apply. I got lucky and my passport was already approved and just needed to be printed and mailed out so I didn't need a birth certificate.
I honestly recommend you all get a passport because as of Jan you will need it to go to Mexico, Canada , and even the Bahama's. They are good for 10 years and are the most sought after documents you will apply for.

Machu Piccu was AMAZING and I have 491 photos of my own to weed through this week not to mention my GF 250 photos and her brothers 145 photos. YIKES... I will be pretty busy this week hopefully I can get them all posted on my site this 4th of July.

My boss hiked Machu Piccu.. a couple years ago. Pretty cool trail.
You are right, but being a Peru rental I'm 99.99% sure they're referring to a 4-door double cab pickup.
