I just finished doing this and the "add cabin air filters mod" about 5 minutes ago.

This is perhaps the happiest day of my life! It works perfectly and I even took the piece of electrical tape off from in front of the %$#@ light.

@salsaredpearl I just want you to know that I am adding you into my Will, thanks so very much for this!!!

Thanks for very detailed guide!

I did something different. Instead of shorting to ground inside I used wire and button to control if I want to disable tpms in glove box. Just in case in the future I want to get the tpms back functional.

@sunfic

Can you provide a little more detail on which wire you connected to what, and where you got that button? I plan on doing this.

Thanks!

I'm going to give this a try. Any updates or failures after time?
Anybody try just unplugging the module to see if light goes out?

FWIW:

Disconnect battery first, is best practice!

We're concerned with:
  1. Risk of setting off air bag.
  2. Shorting a computer.
  3. Blowing a fuse.
Disconnect negative battery clamp, is safe, fast and easy..

Does anyone actually make use of the TPMS to monitor the tire pressure/temperature through Scan Gauge type of device, just to prevent tire explosion due to pressure increase, high tire temperature or slow air leak? Is that a good way to prevent tire problems while driving?
I use scanguage to monitor my spare tire air pressure.

Curious if anyone that’s done this has a scan gauge? And if so can you still see the pressure read out for the individual tires?
Because theoretically this should have just Interrupted the signal between the module and the dash light. I would imagine there is still data transmitting/available from the actual sensors assuming they are functional.

I just got a Scangauge but haven't installed it yet......this is an interesting question! I'll look once I hook it up....post deep freeze.

Edit....DOH, I don't have any sensors, LOL

If my TPMS light has been blinking due to sensor(s) out of battery, can I just leave it blinking without doing anything until next tire replacement in a year? (I check my tire pressure regularly with a tire gauge.)
Can this hurt dash light circuitry or any other control board?

I finally got around to doing this. I changed out the cabin filters, which were a mess. I really thought that I had done that a year ago, but maybe it was five. I blew out leaves and dirt and mummified ghosts of deserts past. Then I crossed the two wires as per the instructions above (I did disconnect the battery just in case) and bam! Now I can keep my wallet in my pocket!! It's fantastic. Thanks so much to @salsaredpearl for the instructions. It's a massive upgrade!!

Did this mod yesterday. No more low tire light. Thanks so much for a great write up!

A little bit of an electrical noob here. I picked up some red t taps and it looks like only one wire can pass through but pictures posted seem to show that both wires pass through the t tap. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Just use a small drill bit or something to open the other side all the way up too. Nothing to it.
