dumb query - but does he also have general lessons (i could look, but ...)

Today IDK is clever, tomorrow, who knows. It's gonna be a whim of some kid in the next popular medium. But after H comes I ... so it's probably a lark.

And the books do say to use alpha rather than letters when saying the call sign ... King Geek Seven Eye Dont Know is pretty kewl ...

Whatever the sign - grats on the new ticket and - IDK, maybe never having to learn to text? Or is that "idk nvr hd 2 lrn 2 txt."

Funny but when I used to do some flying  I seemed to just recall the entire phonetic alphabet automatically... And I do use it for un-related activities seems to be prevalent in the IT world "hey Whiskey Tango Foxtrot"...

Oh and please DON'T use the "cop version" of the PA.

Kilo Golf 7 Hotel Whiskey Juliet... monitoring...

Before you test it is better to get an FRN from the FCC. It is an easy on-line form to fill out. That way you don't have to use your SSN on the paper application.

It takes a lot longer than 7-10 days that the VEC told me verbally, probably more like month. The VEC might sit on the applications for a while. Then it sits for who know how long at the VEC headquarters where it gets processed/submitted to the FCC in the order received. I tested Jan 21. As of this morning, my application has still not arrived at the VEC headquarters and they are still processing stuff from early January.

It is a good idea to get the local VEC 's number to follow up. It won't be on the form, just three signatures that you cannot read. The form they give you says wait 15 days before calling.

I guess it depends who you work with. I had mine in about 2-2.5 weeks. And they called me to let me know the progress. Good luck.

Im planning on going with a friend to the upcoming Feb 17th testing.

I found out after I get my license only then can I submit for the vanity call.

I think so. Apparently, my guy is not on the ball.

Passed my Technician test this morning. Now to figure out what I'm actually doing... :hhmm:

Took test at the Gilbert Farmer's Market. VEC said they'd mail everything in today, so 7-10 days for call sign?

Good job Rob!
Are you going vanity or taken what you get?

We have another member with an Extra class license that has offered to do an advance clinic for the club on repeaters, computer links, and such. With all the new CSC licenses coming up, March meeting may be a good time.

My test date is just around the corner. Im 100% ready based on my QRZ practice test scores.

A class would be great. There are many layers to this onion. I've begun the search for a vehicle mounted radio. My callsign was listed 8 days after the test. Licence arrived in the mail last week.
