I didn't see a list of parts sources specifically for 79-85 in the FAQ. I am familiar with the landcruiser sources but they don't seem to have much for my 84 SR5.

I would be gratefule if someone who knows could post up sources they are aware of. Particularly I am looking for bumpers/brush gaurds and camper tops but also general parts used and new.

thanks

I can help you on the OE parts. I'm not sure who does the A/M bumpers and such but I'm sure someone on the board is covering that area. I'd check out the Vendors Market and maybe do a search.

I don't think you're going to find "parts sources specifically for 79-85 ", at least with a broad selection of items available. Most Toyota aftermarket products that are available will have the year and model listed so you will know if you can purchase that product for our 1st gen trucks. U-Pull-It yards are a good source for used parts if you don't mind doing that. Cdan and Beno at American Toyota still have an amazing amount of OEM parts at a discount if you mention IH8MUD when you call.

There are a lot of sources listed by item in the FAQ. For example, if you want a bumper, go to the bumper thread in the faq or just search for bumpers and vendors will be listed.

Three good sources for aftermarket suspensions, bumpers, engines, exhaust, etc are:

Slee off-road
LC Engineering
and Marlin Crawler.

I can help with parts however available from Toyota.

:)

Can you get me a part that was discontinued less than a year ago? What do they do with the stock when the dealers return it?

They scrap it. :frown:

Interestingly enough, I found a ton of NOS 22RE parts in my warehouse here. Old ones.

90910-12086 (VSV)
25620-65011 (EGR Valve)
90910-02075 (Head bolts)

Just to name a few. Did not come across that one though. The National part info. system is down right now so I can't see if it is disco'ed or not.

Well let me know if you get lucky.

That's a bit harsh....they could at least sell the stock to some enterprising individual.

The corporate world is over-stocked with bean-counters that dictate practices that promote the most economic gain.

There is more economic benefit in scrapping obsolete inventory and taking a tax write-off than in spending time and money maintaining it while waiting for the rare sale.

I am not fond of it but I do see both sides.
