Wow, congrats on cleaning them up. I put paint on mine so that they don't rust (I live near the ocean). I figure they will always look "less than pristine" since the bottoms and sides are scraped by rocks and the tops are scuffed by feet. I would not sweat it too much. Wear those battle scars with pride.

Nah, not sweating it too much, just a nice baseline to go forward with. I know they will be scared, after all thats what they are there for. Its kinda fun to start from a clean bare metal and know every coat you put on..... and every coat your scrapped off :D

Do a different color every coat.

"Hey, there's some green. Oooh! Red!"

POR15 is *VERY* tough stuff. It's what I did my skid plate with, and despite dragging it, it still looks surprisingly new.

I went with a hammered finish that's close to my trim color:

Ya POR15 probably been a better way to go than what I did.

We'll see how they hold up this route, next time cleanup is do or I feel really motivated I'll re-do that way I think.

Well I tried to different routes for fun. One side is just good ol spray paint black. A friend had some herculiner I decided to try on the other.

I have grip tape on the top of my mini trucks sliders and the kids complain every time they scrape their legs getting in. On my cruiser the smooth painted sliders "protect" them from the bedlinered rocker panels. in theory the bedliner will not slide as well over rocks but I think that the liner will peel off rather than impede your progress too much.

Perfect :), in that case the rocks will peel it off for me and I can re-do with something else :) lol.
