Thanks again you guys that was a fun session of wrenching.

Reid - Huge shout out brother, it's amazing how smoothly things go when you have someone there with a solid knowledge base of what the hell we are doing.

Now it's time for step #6

X2:beer:

thanks Mark, Reid, and Dan

It was good seeing you guys again and it's always pleasure helping whenever I can.

Well I just called up BB Toyota to see their prices, but plan to go with a discount from Dan. Anyway they want $143 for the EGR-VSV and $91 for the Vacuum Modulator. So it looks like I will probably come out of this with shipping and all just under 2 Bills.
CDan's prices are MUCH better!

BTW: Mark, there are some nice rigs in your neighborhood. LC's down the street, Scouts around the corner, a badass Uni and old Broncos a couple of streets over.

Nice I see you took the tour of my Kick Arse Neighborhood. South Park is not just a show with foul mouth kids! HAHA.... Yeah it seems like I find a Cruiser every week within a short drive. So you saw the Red Unimog! And I am guessing the Green and Yellow Broncos on the main drag.

Yeah, that Mog is sick. I know I saw yellow, but not sure what the other color Bronco was.

Did you guys already order your parts?
I just dug out the invoice for my parts. (Found an American Toyota sticker also :hillbilly:)
EGR Vacuum Modulator: $54.16
VSV for EGR: $86.68

You should post results after replacing those parts.

Yeah well, I may have gotten away with the cheapest EGR part (still have not made the call on it yet), but I will have beaten you all by the end of the week on coin dropped.

My truck is with John at SD Trux right now getting the pan arch seal, front crank seal, and oil pump seal fixed.:eek: Ouch!!!

I can't wait to have a clean no drip undercarriage.

After that I will tackle the VSV part, my rear brakes and rear bearing re-pack.

Just wanted to update that I replaced the parts, diconnected the battery and the light has so far stayed off. And I passed my smog test with flying colors, just great numbers that I will post up later when I have them in hand.

idea

My heart goes out to you guys that are trudging the road as you move into the higher miles, I am on my way. Its a fun journey with IH8MUD at your fingertips and all the moral support.

Your discussion about the neighborhood rigs (Mogs, Broncos, and cruisers) rekindled an idea I have had.

 To start a thread with pics and info about cool rigs in the neighborhood. I don't know about you guys but everywhere I go I have a radar on for LC's, other built toyotas, classics, and bad ass wheelers of any make. I usually take a photo. I think rigs like this deserve a thread.. I have a few pics to start it, but it needs a name.

Sorry for the temp Hi-Jack.

Heres an example:

Yeah, since there is so many nice rigs in my neighborhood I have decided to start a neighborhood 4x4 Bulletin Board to post trips on so that I can meet some of these guys and wheel with their great rigs.

I will share the link once it is all up and running, still under construction and I have to secure the domain name and get some business cards to leave on the rigs. Oh and Ulyses, you will have to join since you live in the hood!

How about a meet and greet at Hodad's? Damn - saw it again on a food channel program. Gotta get one of those bacon burgers and onion rings.

So I thought I would revive this thread since I now have a co-worker at my new J.O.B. with a 40th anniversary 80. And he tells me he got a code while trying to get a smog for registration. Ah yes the dreaded P401 code.
Anyway this last outing where Reid helped the three of us out went so well I thought I would see if there is anyone else who had this nagging code that they wanted to get rid of and would like to join my co-worker & I.
Also could someone with a better memory than me post up the numbers you should be looking for on the meter when testing the three components? They are probably in the FSM but I don't have it handy right now.

My CEL has been coming on and off again quite a bit lately. It might be the P401. I'll have my mechanic buddy check the code for me. When were you thinking of taking care of this?

I have the PO401 too. I would love to get together with someone to help find the solution. Unfortunatly, I leave on business from 26 MAY - 4 JULY. I'm in Menifee, just north of Temecula.

I'm in. Have had the p0401 for about a year. Just passed smog with it a couple weeks ago, cleared the code and took it in. Would really like to make it go away...
