I’m coming from a whole host of V8 Toyotas and I’m glad to hear you thought it wasn’t a giant step down from the Ram 5.7 because I’ve driven a ‘22 Ram with that motor and it’s got some serious jam!
It did and mine was a 2021. It feels the same to 60mph in the seat between the two. I have also towed a motorcycle trailer behind the new cruiser and I didn't even know it was there. Not a great towing test yet. My truck also had a 35 gallon gas tank which I do miss which would give me about 500+ mile range. I am now half that range in the landcruiser (my biggest complaint avg 275 mile range).

My Sequoia is somewhere in the 250-300 mile range, so not too much of a change there for me. I like to get out and stretch my legs every few hours, so that’s not a deal breaker in my case.

I traded in a Ram rebel truck with 420 hp. I don't miss it at all! This has same torque numbers as my truck had with a big V-8. Truck had 469 lb-ft and the landcruiser has 465lb-ft. This number is what matters as that is what you feel in the seat and pulling power. HP only matters over 55. Honestly it feels like a V-8 does. Maybe not in eco mode as it has a lag but in normal it is good and sport it is peppy!
Keep in mind, 469lb-ft is "peak" torque... which happens around 1700 rpm. From there is just goes down to ~280 lb-ft at 6k rpm. Compared to the 5.7L Hemi which has a more flat torque curve more like the one shown (look at the curve, not the numbers). It might feel similar around town but once you jump on the gas, it won't be the same. Ram Rebel will reach 60mph ~50% faster.

Last few tanks were about 275 miles (refueled at about 250, with 25 or so showing "remaining"). Dash display shows about 18.5 MPG over the lifetime of the car so far. Has anyone been able to eek out 300 miles? We commute 40 miles every day, 35+ of it is highway at 70mph or so. Feels wrong that my 100 series can make it about 50 miles further on a tank (albeit with the light on for a bit if I'm pushing my luck)...

Last two tanks were in eco mode, no change.

How the hell did Toyota come up with 23 combined? Could the port installed Nittos be making that big of a difference?

Everytime I fill up (now at 6600 miles on odometer) with about 25 miles left to empty, I put in about 14.5 gallons. The tank holds 17. You can easily get 300 but you have to be comfortable driving on empty. Not recommended since the extra fuel keeps the fuel pump cool and not recommended to run out of fuel due to hybrid system as it might get damaged if rely too much on battery. My distance always says 250 miles to empty at fill up time. Frustrating to be using only 14 gallons of fuel every tank.

The fuel economy on paper is a huge factor for those weighing LC and GX. LC running mid-high teens in real world is highly suspect and misleading.

Let a full year of sales/miles pile up and I expect to hear a lot of vocal frustration from LC buyers.

Thanks guys, sounds like I've got about 3 gallons left when I'm filling up. The biggest flub on their end is the little tank. 19mpg is fine, no complaints there. But the tiny little tank just doesn't cut it. I wonder if one day someone will figure out how to get the GX tank in there. 20+ gallons would have been great, approaching 400 miles.

Someone tried the GX tank and the plastic is moulded differently so it won't fit in the frame. It needs to b e a tank specific to the LC250.

4 Runner is Japan as well. They run on the same line as the 250/460 does at Tahara. At least they did for 2024. I assume they still do.

New 4Runner is still built in Tahara.

Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia are built in one of 3 plants. Depending on the trim. San Antonio (TX), Baja (CA), or Guanajuato (Mexico).

I have not. My buddy got some on his Tacoma and I really fell for the looks.

They are not quiet. Not loud but not quiet.

I have Recon Grapplers on my 200 and they are dead silent even at 40,000 miles.

This truck will be mostly a local 20 mile a day, no interstate commuter so the road noise won’t be an issue to my daughter
How are they in snow and mud?

Thank you gents for putting my mind at ease. I just watched the Haggerty video and his critique of the iForce Max had me really second guessing my decision on a 1958. I haven’t driven one yet, and since it will be my wife’s primary and my secondary, I’m more worried about whether she likes it. It will be a lease too, so I’m not worried about resale s much either. I will only tow 3,500 or so with it, and am never really in a hurry anymore (at least not on 4 wheels), so as long as it has adequate power, I’m good. I’ll have my 4.7 Sequoia for the V8 fix when needed.

Is the V6 in the 550 the same as the Tundra? I believe it is, and I’m definitely not in love with THAT power plant.
what don't you like about it?

You haven’t heard about the 100,000 plus Tundras and Lexus SUVs that are getting their engines replaced under a recall? It apparently doesn’t extend past 2023 models so far, but we will see I guess. I wouldn’t want a V6 in a full-size truck no matter what, but im sure in the 550 it would be great if they get the issues worked out.

Yeah Ive heard of that but heard its a limited range from early 2022. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something else or more problems found out.

I hit 10k mi a week ago. Nothing new or noticeable. But I have been taming my speeding habit and each driving trip, not the total avg mileage, I'm getting about 22-23 MPG.

I am still getting used to mine, but have only racked up 600 miles. The two biggest complaints are the fuel capacity, and the auto start/stop. Not having ever owned a hybrid before, and having the option of a switch to turn the auto start/top off, is been a struggle for me. Otherwise, I think it is a really cool rig.

We have about 1,300 miles on ours and I have started using the tow-haul button in some situations where I for sure don't want the LC doing the auto start/stop. I 100% agree on the fuel tank size. Another 4 to 6 gallons (or more) would really put this in more comfortable mileage range per tank.
