Thanks Greg.... U know, I just read an article on how easy it is to import one of these from up north. It was on the expedition portal site. It's as simple as driving across and paying some taxes. Then the vin gets checked and ire good to go. So if a diesel is what u want. It mightn't be too difficult to get one, provided one can be had for not too much money though

Yeah I actually read the same article. However I love my truck and that will only happen if/when the heart gives out on the ole girl. Was talking with my buddy about it this weekend and if something drastic happened to the truck (like stolen and totaled or totaled in a wreck) I would probably run up north and either grab another one or grab a 75/77 series Land Cruiser from 89-90 and import that.

U have a plan, that's the good thing.

LOL.... do you realize what I do for a living?! I don't think I could do much of anything without a plan these days.... (I am a business analyst and quickly becoming a project manager).

Yes, managing a project is not quite easy, I can relate a little.

Nice rig, make sure you adjust your valves, the rocker arms like cupping on the 2H

This is my 87 and the arms I replaced a couple weeks ago (new one is on the right).

Holy crap, that is a nice truck. I read on an Australian forum about the rocker arm issue. I have yet to check mine. Thanks for the heads up

Seats and washers on their way too.

Thanks, it wasn't that bad getting it fixed especially when having the proper tools for the job. I do have one injector that leaks so I must buy one. But other than that, boy am I a happy camper. Diesel all the way!!!

You mention proper tools. Other than the deep sockets you mentioned in the other thread where there other specialty tools you needed?

That's great that you got them! By special tools I meant 24mm and 27mm deep sockets and torque wrench. Makes a whole world of difference. I ended up ovalinzing one of my nozzle holders and I have a slight leak, and that is because I did not have patience and I used an adjustable and the vise to open them up. So i need a new injector. But regardless, the job is a one banana in my opinion. My black smoke has not gone away so my next step is a turbo I guess. My fuel screw is also all the way in, so i assume no one tampered with it. I'll just leave it be for a while cause she runs good and I'll turbo it down the line.

Dude send some of that our way... We have had a couple storms come through that dropped a little at the top of the mountains but that means we got a quick 30 minutes of rain and that was it... BLEH I want WINTER WEATHER!

I love winter, too many reasons to list. Truck is awesome in snow

I have a quick update and a question. I just installed my safari snorkel, pics to follow and I also decided it was time to finally get a stereo in there. i bought a brand new kenwood head unit with 22w output per channel. The current speakers are rated at 30w. When I turn up the volume the speakers start to distort. I really don't want to put in an amp. How will I fix this problem? Do I need to buy speakers with less power. I have an amp but I don't want to complicate my truck's wiring. Actually, I don't want a complicated stereo system, any input?

Great picture, but I hate to see a rust free truck out in that mess.
It was pre salt. It's spending most of the winter in the garage. I have an 86 pickup as a winter vehicle.

The speakers distorting doesn't necessarily have to do with the power. What brand and how old are they? They could just be crappy speakers, my RF punches are rated at quite a bit higher than your speakers and I think my stereo only puts out 25w a channel and they sound great and don't distort even when cranked.

They are infinities. I bought new speakers though. Ken woods as well. Just like the head unit. I read on the faq's on crutch field that it's cause the head unit cannot carry them. The vintage toyota stereo I had in there was however working better than my new unit. I was surprised to see its not working. I get clear sound only to volume level 9. The stereo goes to 35. I don't know much about audio. I was thinking about changing the speaker wire. It's very thick right now. I think maybe 10 gauge. Could that bet he problem?

I bought a pre cleaner instead of the typ snorkel head. This is the result and I love it. Reminds me of the good ol tractors back in Romania, lol ...

Update. I fixed the stereo. I'm psyched to have music. The problem was that I had my vintage toyo wire harness and I was sharing some wires. Took that out and rewired every speaker accordingly. I now have great sound. I love it. I spent 90 bucks only and I have great sound now. Next, I will be wiring in my blue sea fuse block and will tap into that for everything .i will use a single relay before the box, and then depending on what I run after the box I will decide on aux relays or not. For now I want to keep my wiring as simple as possible. On another note, I have my stereo wedged into the dash with some news paper, lol. Is there a kit of sorts I can use to install it properly? I have nothing to bolt anything to.
